Status: Full-time (Continental Days)
Reports to: Maintenance Manager
Location: North York, ON
Compensation:
The pay range for this role is $90,000 to $115,000, plus bonus, comprehensive benefits, retirement savings plan, paid vacation, and additional perks and career development opportunities.
Job Scope
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and electromechanical repair of all plant equipment and infrastructure. The successful candidate will lead and support the maintenance team with a robust focus on continuous improvement, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain all mechanical and electrical systems, production equipment, boilers, and refrigeration systems.
- Direct and lead the maintenance team in scheduling, preventive maintenance, and repairs of all plant equipment.
- Plan and coordinate the work of skilled trades personnel on a 24/7 basis, including operating engineers, millwrights, and electricians.
- Coordinate external contractors and ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with applicable manufacturing regulations and standards, including Health & Safety, GMPs, HACCP, WHMIS, and SDS requirements.
- Maintain and support the plant's Quality Management System and food safety programs.
- Communicate daily maintenance activities and priorities to supervisors and stakeholders.
- Participate as an active member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
- Improve and maintain preventive maintenance programs and systems.
- Identify opportunities and provide recommendations to improve maintenance processes, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Assist senior management with the development and execution of operating and capital budgets, ensuring maintenance activities remain within approved parameters.
- Support the training and development of maintenance personnel through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure required spare parts and maintenance inventory are properly ordered, organized, and maintained.
- Fulfill food safety and quality responsibilities as outlined in SOPs, training materials, and company policies, including accurate record keeping.
- Attend training programs and courses as required.
- Support additional projects and initiatives as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
- Millwright (433A) and/or Industrial Electrician (442A/309A) license is considered a strong asset.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a maintenance leadership or supervisory role within a food, beverage, or manufacturing environment.
- Solid interpersonal, written,
and verbal communication skills.
- Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, including experience with PLCs and computerized preventive maintenance systems.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a proactive approach to maintenance and operational excellence.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to prioritize, plan, and coordinate work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
