We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support a healthcare organization in Ottawa, Ontario through a Long-term Contract opportunity. This position is suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, brings strong attention to detail, and can manage full-cycle payables with a high degree of accuracy. The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining timely payments, supporting financial controls, and ensuring vendor transactions are processed efficiently.

Responsibilities:

- Manage end-to-end accounts payable activities, including receiving, reviewing, coding, and entering a large volume of invoices accurately and on schedule.
- Confirm that invoices are properly authorized by checking approvals and supporting documentation before processing payment.
- Reconcile corporate credit card statements and follow up on discrepancies to ensure records are complete and accurate.
- Review and process petty cash receipts while maintaining organized documentation for audit and reporting purposes.
- Prepare and issue payments to both Canadian and U.S. vendors in accordance with payment terms and internal procedures.
- Validate invoice details within the organization's financial system to ensure correct coding, amounts, and supporting information.
- Perform account reconciliations and assist with resolving variances related to payables, accrued expenses, and vendor balances.
- Support day-to-day accounting operations by using ERP and accounting software tools to maintain accurate financial records and efficient workflows.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in high-volume, full-cycle accounts payable.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software, ERP platforms, and automated financial processing tools.




- Knowledge of the organization's AP system is required.
- Strong understanding of account coding, account reconciliation, and accrual-based accounting principles.
- Experience handling vendor payments, including ACH transactions and payments to Canadian and U.S. suppliers.
- Familiarity with tools and platforms such as Concur, ADP Financial Services, or similar finance applications.
- High level of accuracy, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven setting.
