Lead Dry Cleaning Technician

The Laundry Guys is a locally owned commercial laundry and dry cleaning business in Kamloops, BC. As we grow, we are seeking an experienced lead dry cleaning technician to take ownership of garment-care quality, help guide our team, and strengthen our dry cleaning operation in a full-time position.

This senior, hands-on position is designed for an experienced drycleaning professional who can contribute with minimal training and day-to-day supervision. The successful candidate will use strong technical knowledge of professional garment care to make sound decisions about cleaning methods, stain treatment, garment risks, finishing, workflow, and quality control.

The Lead Drycleaning Technician will perform day-to-day drycleaning duties while coordinating department workflow, guiding other team members, and maintaining consistently high standards for garment safety, efficiency, and finish quality.

Responsibilities

As the Lead Drycleaning Technician, you will:

- Inspecting incoming garments and identifying stains, fabric types, potential risks and appropriate cleaning methods
- Making informed decisions regarding the safest and most effective method for cleaning specialty, delicate, or challenging garments
- Quoting dry cleaning and specialty-cleaning items when required
- Operating our modern, eco-friendly drycleaning equipment safely and efficiently
- Performing advanced pre-spotting and post-spotting using appropriate techniques and products
- Pressing, steaming, and professionally finishing garments
- Conducting final quality-control inspections and determining whether garments require additional treatment, re-cleaning, or special handling before completion
- Organizing and prioritizing workloads to ensure customer and commercial deadlines are consistently met
- Helping oversee the daily workflow of the dry cleaning department
- Providing guidance, training, and technical support to other dry cleaning team members
- Helping establish and maintain consistent cleaning, spotting,



finishing, and quality-control procedures
- Maintaining accurate organization and tracking of customer garments throughout the cleaning process
- Performing routine preventative maintenance on dry cleaning and finishing equipment
- Cleaning filters, button traps, stills, and other machine components as required
- Monitoring equipment performance, identifying potential problems, and reporting mechanical or operational concerns
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Following workplace safety procedures and proper chemical-handling practices
- Communicating clearly with customers about garment-care risks, expected results, and available options, while addressing concerns and setting honest expectations
- Assisting with other laundry or production duties when required

Experience & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

- A minimum of 5 years of professional dry cleaning experience
- Strong experience with spotting, stain identification, and stain-removal techniques
- Strong knowledge of fabrics, garment construction, care labels, and potential cleaning risks
- Experience operating professional dry cleaning and finishing equipment
- Experience pressing and professionally finishing a variety of garments
- The ability to assess garments and make independent decisions regarding cleaning methods and risk
- The ability to troubleshoot common production or garment-care issues with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing production priorities
- A high level of attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Good mechanical aptitude and comfort performing routine equipment cleaning and maintenance

Previous experience supervising employees, serving as a lead hand or training staff is strongly preferred.
