Building Up is Canada’s largest construction social enterprise. Experienced Siding Installer/ Siding Expert

We’re looking for a skilled and experienced siding expert to join our team! This is currently a fixed term contract position, but could be turned into a full time permanent position if our growth continues and you are the right fit. We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented professional with experience in siding (Maibec Wood, Vinyl and Aluminum) installation, repairs, and exterior finishing.

Hours

- 35 to 44 per week and it will likely involve weekend work so we can hit our targets

Responsibilities

- Install Maibec wood siding (clapboard, shingles and/or board and batten) following the manufacturer's installation guidelines and fastening requirements.
- Install vinyl, aluminum, and other types of siding.
- Prep walls properly, including sheathing checks, weather-resistive barrier, rainscreen and furring strips.
- Install flashing, trim, corners, starter strips and details around windows, doors and penetrations so the envelope stays watertight.
- Measure, lay out and cut accurately to keep reveals straight,



joints tight and waste low.
- Work safely from ladders, scaffolding and lifts, and follow site health and safety requirements, including daily toolbox talks.
- Complete siding repairs and replacements.
- Keep your work area organized and take care of tools and materials.
- Flag material needs or site issues to your project manager and/or supervisor early
- Ensure quality workmanship and attention to detail.
- Measure and cut materials accurately.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Help teach newer crew members and trainees good siding practice.

Requirements

- At least 5 years of hands-on siding installation experience.
- Proven experience installing Maibec or similar prefinished wood siding. You should be able to show us examples of past projects.
- Proven knowledge of various siding materials and installation techniques.
- Proven experience in siding installation and repairs.
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation preferred.
- A strong understanding of flashing, water management and building envelope details.
- Your own hand tools, and experience using mitre saws, pneumatic nailers and related equipment.
- Working at Heights and WHMIS training (or willingness to get it right away)
- You're comfortable doing physical work outdoors in different weather, including lifting materials and working at heights all day.
- Pride in your work and a strong work ethic. You show up on time and do it right the first time.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
