Busy Bee Tools is opening a new Coquitlam (Vancouver) store, and we are looking for a hands-on Assistant Store Manager who can lead people, serve customers and help build a store known for knowledgeable advice. Busy Bee has served Canadian woodworkers and metalworkers since 1976. You will partner with the Store Manager on sales, service, inventory and day-to-day execution and take charge of the store when the manager is away.

Key Responsibilities

- Coach the sales and front-end team, set daily priorities and take ownership of service and sales results.
- Help customers choose tools and machinery for their projects; arrange quotes, special orders, demonstrations and follow-up on larger purchases.
- Oversee opening and closing, cash controls, receiving, replenishment, merchandising, inventory accuracy, returns and online order pickups.
- Help grow commercial sales both instore and over the phone.
- Help load/load shipments and fulfill ecommerce and pick up orders
- Handle customer concerns fairly, maintain a safe and organized store, and support local business and school customers




- Perform any other duties as assigned by management from time to time.

What your bring:

- Approximately three or more years in retail, trade supply, equipment sales or another customer-facing business, including at least two years leading or supervising people. Comparable experience will be considered.
- Sound judgment, strong organization and the ability to run a store independently on the Store Manager's days away.
- A strong preference for practical experience with woodworking or metalworking tools and machinery. This could come from carpentry, cabinetmaking, furniture building, millwork, machining, fabrication, a serious personal workshop or tool retail. We do not expect mastery of both disciplines, but you should be comfortable discussing how tools are used and eager to learn the other category.
- Comfort with POS, inventory systems and sales reporting; forklift certification is an asset.

Schedule :

- Five scheduled days per week with two rostered days off. The store operates seven days a week, so availability for Saturdays and Sundays is required. Planned hours are approximately 9 a.m.–6 p.m.
