Salary: $46,000–$52,000 based on experience

Description:

We are looking for a mechanically inclined, detail-oriented person to join our production team as a Canning Line Operator & Cellar Hand.

Experience operating packaging equipment in a brewery is highly valued, but brewery experience is not required. Experience in food, beverage, pharmaceutical or other sanitary manufacturing environments is a strong asset. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience operating and troubleshooting automated production equipment and a valuable understanding of sanitation and clean working practices.

This position will primarily involve operation of our canning and packaging equipment, along with cellar and general brewery production work. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong understanding of the equipment they operate, identify and troubleshoot problems, perform routine maintenance and changeovers, and maintain high standards of product quality and sanitation.

Responsibilities:

Include (but are not limited to):

- Set up, operate and monitor canning and packaging equipment, including filler/seamer, case packer, printer, labeler, conveyors and associated equipment.
- Perform packaging changeovers and make equipment adjustments for different can and package formats.
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment and process issues during production.




- Perform routine equipment inspection, cleaning and preventative maintenance.
- Monitor packaged beer quality and complete required production and quality checks.
- Clean and sanitize packaging equipment and maintain a clean production environment.
- Perform CIP (clean-in-place) cycles on tanks and other brewery equipment.
- Assist with beer transfers, including equipment setup, cleaning and sanitizing.
- Participate in beer sensory and quality assessment as required.
- Assist with facility maintenance and repairs as required.
- Accurately complete production records and enter information into brewery systems.
- Follow all plant safety, sanitation, housekeeping and food-production quality standards.

General Skills & Experience:

- Strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment.
- Experience operating automated production or packaging equipment is strongly preferred.
- Experience in food, beverage, pharmaceutical or other sanitary manufacturing environments is a solid asset.
- Experience with CIP systems, sanitary processing equipment, GMPs or food-production sanitation is an asset.
- A strong understanding of the importance of sanitation and contamination prevention in food or beverage production is essential.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Ability to work independently, show initiative and exercise good judgement.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and work through production challenges.
- Ability to multi-task, be flexible and acquire new skills.




- Comfortable using computers and production-management systems; experience with Microsoft Excel and Word is helpful.
- Able to meet the physical requirements of the position, including extended periods of standing, bending, twisting, lifting and climbing.
- Brewery experience is an asset, but we are happy to train the right person with relevant technical or sanitary manufacturing experience.
