We're opening our second Steamoji academy in Surrey Newton, and we're looking for the person who will run it. Enrolment, building a team, family relationships and day-to-day operations will be yours. This is a chance to manage a business from end to end, with a proven model and an owner who's in it with you.

What is Steamoji?

Steamoji is a Canadian maker academy for kids ages 6 to 14, with 32 locations in North America. Kids learn engineering, coding, fabrication and digital arts by building real projects. They learn to develop a maker mindset and solve problems for the jobs of tomorrow.

We're the local owners behind Steamoji South Surrey. We opened it in October 2024 and grew it to 94 members in its first year. Surrey Newton will be our second academy, and you'll run it with the same systems, curriculum and support that made South Surrey work.

About the role

You'll lead the academy from the very beginning. You'll have a proven curriculum, two years of systems and data from South Surrey, and an owner who leads marketing and brings families through the door. Your job is to turn that interest into members, build a strong team to deliver the programs, and keep families coming back.

After your first year, success will look like a full academy, a team of facilitators you hired and trained, and families who stay with us year after year.

What you'll do

- Grow enrollment. Follow-up with prospective families, run trial sessions and guide parents through the signup process.
- Lead the team. Hire, train, schedule and coach facilitators to deliver a stellar customer experience. Handle any staff issues promptly and professionally.
- Build a positive culture. Create an environment where staff want to stay and kids are excited to come back.
- Own the family experience. Make sure parents understand how their child is progressing, and handle concerns directly.




- Run the academy day to day. Keep it safe, organized and running to Steamoji standards
- Work closely with the owner. Share results regularly, share and implement growth ideas, and raise problems early.

Pay

This role is built to reward growth. Along with your base salary ($45,000 to $50,000), you'll earn:

- Commission on every current membership, with the highest rate for annual memberships
- Bonuses when the academy reaches member milestones in year 1
- Summer camp bonuses when membership sales slow down
- Retention-based pay from Year 2

Expected total earnings in Year 1 are $60,000–$70,000 when the academy grows to plan, with more for stronger growth.

Training

You'll start with 2 to 3 weeks of hands-on training at our South Surrey academy in White Rock, learning the enrolment process, the operations and the facilitator’s job alongside the owner. Being there in person for this period is essential.

What we're looking for

Required

- Experience managing a team
- Experience in sales, enrolment, or another role where you were responsible for results
- Experience working with children, through teaching, coaching, camps or youth programs
- A post-secondary diploma or degree
- Availability for full-time hours, including after-school hours and Saturdays
- Ability to train in person at our White Rock academy for 2 to 3 weeks
- A clear criminal record check (vulnerable sector)

Nice to have

- A business or marketing diploma or degree
- Experience at a tutoring centre, enrichment program or membership-based business
- Comfort with coding, CAD Design or animation tools

We're looking for someone who wants to build something over several years, not just the next few months. We welcome applicants returning to work after a career break.

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
