POSITION SUMMARY

The Auto Body Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the effective, safe, and high quality repair of customer vehicles. The Auto Body Technician is responsible for following a systematic repair process from vehicle disassembly through reassembly, ensuring all damage is accurately identified, documented, repaired, and quality-checked in accordance with manufacturer specifications, industry standards, and company procedures.

By conducting thorough disassembly and damage analysis at the outset of the repair process, the Technician helps improve cycle times, reduce repair delays, minimize supplements, and support overall shop profitability and customer satisfaction.

The Auto Body Technician is expected to maintain a clean and organized work environment, communicate effectively with management and team members, and contribute positively to production goals and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle Disassembly and Damage Analysis

- Perform complete and accurate vehicle disassembly to expose all visible and hidden damage.
- Remove all necessary trim, moldings, blend panel components, and related parts to ensure a comprehensive assessment of repair requirements.
- Identify structural, cosmetic, mechanical, and supplemental damage as early as possible in the repair process.
- Review repair plans and estimates thoroughly before commencing repairs.
- Verify that all required repair operations, replacement parts, and labour procedures are included in the estimate.
- Document any additional damage or repair requirements discovered during the repair process and communicate findings promptly to management.
- Complete supplemental damage reports accurately and in a timely manner whenever additional repairs or parts are required.

Repair Execution

- Perform repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications, industry best practices, and company quality standards.
- Utilize appropriate repair methods, tools, and equipment to restore vehicles to pre-accident condition.




- Follow all repair procedures outlined in the work order and repair plan.
- Ensure repairs are completed efficiently while maintaining quality workmanship and safety standards.
- Notify management immediately if repairs are delayed, halted, or require additional authorization.

Parts Verification & Management

- Verify that replacement parts match the estimate and the vehicle requirements before installation.
- Confirm proper fit, function, and quality of all parts prior to repair completion.
- Identify and report any incorrect, damaged, missing, or non-conforming parts immediately.
- Document discrepancies on supplemental damage reports and communicate them to management and the parts department.
- Return unused, incorrect, or surplus parts promptly to the parts department following company procedures.
- Assist in maintaining accurate parts accountability throughout the repair process.

Documentation & Communication

- Maintain complete, accurate, and organized documentation for all assigned repairs.
- Record repair progress, supplements, delays, parts issues, and other relevant information as required.
- Participate actively in daily production, repair planning, and release meetings.
- Provide accurate status updates on assigned vehicles to management and team members.
- Collaborate effectively with estimators, parts personnel, painters, detailers, and management to ensure efficient workflow.

Quality Control

- Conduct quality control inspections throughout the repair process and prior to vehicle release.
- Verify that all repairs have been completed according to repair plans, manufacturer requirements, and company standards.
- Ensure all vehicle systems, components, trim pieces, and accessories are properly installed and functioning correctly.
- Identify and correct deficiencies before vehicles proceed to the next stage of production.
