Marketing and Communications Coordinator
Location: Laurentian University Students’ General Association, 935 Ramsey Lake Rd., SC-212, Sudbury ON, P3E2C6
Salary: $50,000 + Benefits
Full/Part Time: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Reports to: Executive Director
Desired Start Date: As soon as possible
End Date: 52 weeks after start date (one year fixed contract)

Section 1: Information on the SGA/AGÉ
The Laurentian University Students’ General Association (SGA/AGÉ) is the largest bilingual student association at Laurentian University. With over 60 years of dedicated service as a non-profit organization, the association represents and supports approximately 4,000 students.
The SGA/AGÉ delivers a wide range of essential services, including health plan administration, organizing Welcome Week, student advocacy, and hosting events and support initiatives that enrich the student experience.
Joining the SGA/AGÉ team means becoming part of a dynamic, collaborative, and student focused environment. The selected candidate will contribute to the association's mission while also having the opportunity to design programming and support systems that meet the evolving needs of our diverse student community.
Section 2: Overview
The Marketing and Communications Coordinator supports and maintains the SGA/AGÉ’s communications, marketing, media presence, and brand. The position coordinates and implements communications and marketing activities across the organization, including social media, websites, email communications, promotional materials, and other digital and physical media.
Section 3: Primary Responsibilities
Communications and Marketing
- Coordinate and implement the organization’s communications and marketing activities in accordance with established priorities and objectives.
- Plan and prepare physical and digital marketing materials to support SGA/AGÉ programs, services, events, campaigns, and initiatives.
- Maintain communications calendars and coordinate the scheduling and delivery of marketing and promotional activities.
Communications, Marketing & Content
- Coordinate and implement the organization’s communications and marketing activities in accordance with established priorities and objectives.
- Create physical and digital communications and promotional materials to support SGA/AGÉ programs, services, events, campaigns, and initiatives, including social media content, newsletters, emails, pamphlets, posters, signage, booklets, and presentations.
- Create and edit graphic, written, photography, and videography content for organizational activities and promotional purposes.
- Maintain communications calendars and coordinate the scheduling and delivery of marketing and promotional activities.
Social Media and Website
- Plan, develop, schedule, and publish content across platforms including Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and TikTok.
- Monitor social media engagement and compile relevant performance information and statistics.
- Maintain and update the organization’s websites to ensure content is accurate, current, accessible, and user-friendly.
Brand and Public Communications
- Maintain the SGA/AGÉ’s established brand identity and develop templates and resources to support consistency across organizational communications.
- Provide communications and branding support to SGA/AGÉ departments and team members as required.
- Prepare press releases, public statements, and other external communications as directed.
- Maintain relevant media contacts and liaise with Laurentian University’s Communications and Marketing departments and other stakeholders as required.
The above responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed in this position. Other related responsibilities and duties may be assigned as required.
Section 4: Qualifications
- Education: Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field (communications, marketing, media studies, journalism, etc.)
- Skills:
- Proficiency in multimedia content creation, graphic design, social media,
and website content management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong planning, organization, and time-management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and cooperative skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Language: Bilingualism in English (native or fluent) and French (at least an intermediate level) is necessary.
- Eligible for the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Grant
- Criteria:
- Candidates must be a new entrant into the workforce, are transitioning to a new career, or the unemployed or underemployed who are entering a new field.
- Candidates must have not previously participated in an NOHFC funded internship.
- Candidates must be 18 years of age or older.
- Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Once hired, the candidate must reside in the Northern Ontario community in which they are employed.
