Job Summary

Fuego’s Halal Kitchen is looking for a reliable Line Cook / Prep Cook to join our Scarborough ghost kitchen located near Morningside and Lawrence.

We specialize in halal comfort food, including pasta, mac and cheese, wings, Philly cheesesteaks, burgers, chicken, subs, shrimp and fries. This role is focused on food preparation, cooking, order accuracy and keeping up with a high volume of delivery and takeout orders.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a quick-paced kitchen, can follow recipes and portion standards consistently, and understands the importance of speed, cleanliness and organization.

Duties

- Prepare ingredients and complete daily food prep before and during service
- Cook and assemble menu items according to Fuego’s recipes and standards
- Prepare pasta, mac and cheese, chicken, Philly cheesesteaks, wings, burgers, subs, shrimp and sides
- Operate kitchen equipment including grills, fryers and cooking stations
- Maintain a stocked and organized workstation throughout the shift
- Read and prioritize incoming delivery and takeout orders
- Prepare orders accurately and efficiently during busy periods
- Update and maintain the grocery list based on current inventory and upcoming kitchen needs
- Follow portion sizes and preparation procedures consistently
- Properly store, label and rotate food products




- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of workstations and equipment
- Follow food safety and halal food-handling procedures
- Minimize food waste through proper preparation, storage and portioning
- Assist with opening, closing and general kitchen duties
- Communicate effectively with other kitchen staff to keep orders moving

Experience

- Previous kitchen, line cook or prep cook experience is preferred
- Experience in a takeout, delivery or ghost kitchen environment is an asset
- Experience with a fryer, grill or pasta station is an asset
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume kitchen
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
- Strong attention to cleanliness, food safety and organization
- Reliable, punctual and able to work well as part of a team
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and working in a fast-paced environment
- Evening, late-night and weekend availability is required
- Food Handler Certificate is an asset
