Position Summary:

GMS Mine Repair & Maintenance is seeking experienced Excavator Operators to join our team at an open-pit coal mining operation in Tumbler Ridge, BC. The successful candidates will have experience operating large hydraulic excavators and will be responsible for safely and efficiently moving coal and material while supporting daily mining production.

Responsibilities:

- Safely and efficiently operate large hydraulic excavators in an open-pit mining environment.
- Clean and move coal efficiently while maintaining required production standards.
- Load haul trucks with coal and other material.
- Manage dig areas and maintain safe, efficient working conditions.
- Perform excavation, cleanup, bench preparation, and other earthmoving activities as required.
- Maintain proper digging techniques and equipment positioning.
- Conduct thorough pre-operational inspections and report equipment deficiencies.
- Monitor ground conditions and identify potential hazards.
- Communicate effectively with truck operators, dispatch, supervisors, and other site personnel.
- Follow all site safety procedures, traffic management plans, and operating standards.
- Complete required equipment inspections and operational documentation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Qualifications

- 2+ years’ experience operating equipment such as: Caterpillar 385, Caterpillar 390FL, Caterpillar 395,



Caterpillar 6015B, Hitachi 870, Hitachi 890, or equivalent large mining excavator.
- Strong knowledge of open-pit mining practices and heavy equipment safety.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a production-focused mining team.
- Demonstrated commitment to safe, efficient, and responsible equipment operation.
- Valid driver's license and required site qualifications/certifications as applicable.

Compensation: $45 - $55 per hour with accommodations and travel pay provided where applicable.

Schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off with 12-hour rotating day and night shifts.
