Job Synopsis

The Administrative and Communications Assistant provides administrative and communications support to the MCC Québec program. The role coordinates French-language communications, donor materials, translation and proofreading, and administrative logistics for MCC Québec programs and events. The position also provides limited support to the Peace and Justice Office and strengthens MCC Canada’s capacity to communicate and engage in French.

This part-time 12-month term position is 0.5 FTE and may be worked remotely or on a hybrid basis, with a preference for a hybrid arrangement.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Essential

- Fluency in both French and English
- Relevant post-secondary education
- 3-5 years of administrative experience
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both French and English, with the ability to exercise diplomacy and discretion
- Excellent organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and changing priorities
- Robust attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to provide basic translation from English to French and proofread translated materials
- Police record check

Preferred

- Experience providing administrative support to professionals
- Previous experience working with MCC

Key Responsibilities

- Monthly production of In Touch/En Contact
- Connection with Development, Marketing and Communication Depart on appeals, DPO,



disaster response, Annual Impact Report, and Christmas Giving
- Coordinate logistics around translation; light translation and proofreading of translated texts
- Manage MCC Qc Facebook page and MCC website content in French

50% Organizational Assistance

- Summerbridge
- Advertising
- Registration and onboarding of participants
- Administrative management and follow-up (orientation logistics, reports)

- Logistics of other programs: SOOP, SALT, learning tour

General

- Ensure that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is exemplified in the performance of all job

responsibilities and through personal example.
- Model nonviolent peacemaking through daily interactions with staff and the public.
- Participate in a local church and gatherings, being willing to use their gifts within the local faith community
- Respond to general inquiries as requested in a positive and timely manner, offer hospitality
- Other duties as assigned

Contact/Relationships:

Act as a resource for and have regular contact with MCC Québec staff and constituents, as well as with the Peace and Justice Office staff. The individual must be versed in MCC policies and procedures.

Supervision:

No supervisory responsibilities.

Complexity/Competencies:

The duties are diversified and include efficiency in office work and communications, organizational skills and detail work, especially in ensuring the accuracy of translated materials, and the ability to interact extensively with all levels of personnel.

Independent Action:

Incumbent must be able to work independently as well as multi-task. The assignments are administrative and communicational and require a high level of discretion, judgment and, sometimes, modifications.

Initiative and Ingenuity:





The incumbent is expected to anticipate administrative and communications needs, identify practical solutions and recommend improvements to processes and workflows. Initiative is required to coordinate competing requests, address routine issues independently and adapt materials and approaches for French-speaking audiences, while seeking guidance on matters with broader organizational implications.

Communication/Interpersonal Skills:

Direct the flow of information to multiple people and respond to multiple requests from various MCC departments. Excellent oral and written communications skills.

Mental/Physical/Visual Demand:

Frequent demand for exacting information. Often requires extensive concentration.

End Result:

The Administrative and Communications Assistant strengthens the effectiveness of the MCC Québec program and supports the work of the Peace and Justice Office. Through timely administrative support, accurate French-language communications and responsive service, the position increases MCC Canada’s capacity to engage French-speaking constituents and donors and serves as a first point of contact for other MCC entities.

Salary Details

Base salary: $27,718 - Salary posted is based on FTE of 0.5 (18.75) hours a week
