Sotheby’s International Realty Canada is looking for an experienced and accomplished Managing Broker to join our leadership team at our Calgary office. Reporting to the Executive Leadership Team, the Managing Broker will play a key role in leading and growing our Alberta operations. Working collaboratively with our national managing broker team, this role will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the continued growth and success of the Sotheby’s International Realty Canada brand in Alberta.

Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee and manage the growth, recruitment and development of the Sotheby’s brand in the provide of Alberta
- Act as a responsive resource for the Alberta realtors to call when they need assistance and support
- Mentor and train realtors to grow their business
- Develop and implement training initiatives to increase productivity by conducting regular office seminars, in-person meetings, training sessions and virtual meetings
- Ensure and solidify retention of existing agents and maintain a regular physical presence in the office
- Assess and approve all related transaction documentation
- Perform all signatory duties related to the financial disbursement of brokerage activities of all managed offices
- Manage and mentor administrative, conveyance staff and other direct reports in conjunction with the senior leadership team




- Monitor and explore operational efficiencies in the Alberta office operations
- Liaise with the local boards & associations, regulatory bodies and the company’s legal advisors as required
- Oversee compliance issues and complaints
- Work with and in harmony with the company’s other managing brokers to grow the company’s business
- Attend regular national meetings and required training
- Work on special projects as needed

Required Skills:

- Strong knowledge of the Alberta real estate industry, applicable legislation, regulatory requirements and brokerage practices
- Demonstrated experience in real estate brokerage operations, compliance and transaction management
- Proven leadership and people-management skills, with the ability to mentor, coach and develop realtors and administrative staff
- Strong judgment and problem-solving skills, particularly in relation to compliance matters, complaints, transactions and operational issues
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and a collaborative leadership style, with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership and other managing brokers
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and oversee multiple operational functions




- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the technology and systems commonly used in real estate brokerage operations
- Ability to maintain a regular physical presence in the office and travel as required for meetings, training and company initiatives
- A high degree of professionalism, integrity, discretion and sound judgment

Experience and Education:

- Licensed as a Real Estate Broker in Alberta and eligible to be registered as the broker for the brokerage
- Minimum of two years of licensed real estate industry experience within the previous five years, as required by RECA
- Previous leadership or management experience
