Are you an office administrator/bookkeeper with a personality? I know you say that accounting people don’t have a personality, but we are looking for that elusive person who can handle both the numbers and the customers.
Can you accurately cost out a purchase order, answer the phone and enter the details of a customer’s problem, balance the cost of an incoming load of freight against the invoices, phone customers to schedule delivery and call vendors to check on an order — and do it all without someone looking over your shoulder telling you what to do next?
Can you deal with customers in a fun but qualified manner? When things don’t quite add up, does it bother you enough that you turn into a private investigator to get to the bottom of it? Can you handle constant interruptions and pick up right where you left off? Do you like variety in your workday, and can you work the occasional Saturday to cover a shift?
In short, are you my next office administrator?
I see you’re still reading. Okay, good.
Now you’re probably wondering if that’s everything in the job description. The answer is no. We’re a small family-run company where everyone wears multiple hats, and your position is the hub of the organization. Sales, warehouse and delivery all run through you at some point, so your job description is really just the baseline.
In your spare time you’ll list items on the website, print price tags, make signs, and handle a host of other small jobs. I know it’s a lot, but you’ll be working surrounded by beautiful things and a team who will help you succeed. That’s always a plus.
What you’ll need
- Some accounting under your belt — entering payables, matching invoices, basic reconciling.
You don’t need to be a full-cycle accountant.
- Comfort with Microsoft Office, and you’re not spooked by new software. We use Profit Systems, HubSpot, Shopify and AI tools. We’ll train you, but you have to be willing.
- Reliability. We’re a small team, so when you’re not here, it’s noticed.
What’s in it for me?
So now you know what we’re looking for, but you’re asking, “What’s in it for me?” I’m glad you asked. You’re going to work in a beautiful family business that cares. You’ll get competitive pay and benefits, work with some of the best people around, and be trained properly instead of thrown in the deep end.
Let’s sum up
We’re looking for someone who can:
- Look after the day-to-day administration of our family-run business.
- Quickly resolve any customer service issues that come up.
- Keep the numbers honest — and dig in when they don’t add up.
Convince us that you’re the person we need. Send your resume and your story — a few sentences on why this caught your eye.
