Put Children First is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to safeguarding the emotional and psychological well-being of children impacted by parental separation and divorce. The organization supports equal shared parenting, cooperative co-parenting, and research-based advocacy to ensure that children maintain meaningful and healthy relationships with both parents whenever it is safe and appropriate. Through education, outreach, and strategic partnerships, the organization creates initiatives that empower families and promote child centered solutions.

The organization operates through a collaborative leadership model involving directors, board members, and volunteers who work together to provide programs, research, and community support. This leadership structure ensures a strong foundation for developing initiatives that support mental health, academic success, and emotional stability for children. Through ongoing partnerships and public engagement, the organization is committed to creating environments where children thrive.

About the Opportunity

Put Children First is launching a national podcast focused on child wellbeing, family transition, shared parenting, mental health, public policy, and community solutions.

We are looking for an engaging host and/or producer who can help facilitate meaningful conversations with professionals, researchers, parents, policymakers, and community leaders.

Mandate

- Help give a voice to the children at the centre of the conversation.
- Put Children First is seeking a passionate, compassionate and engaging Podcast Host & Producer to help launch and develop our podcast focused on children, separation and divorce, shared parenting, cooperative co-parenting, family wellbeing and the experiences of children navigating family transition.
- This is more than a podcasting opportunity. It is an opportunity to help build a platform that encourages parents, professionals, policymakers and communities to look beyond the conflict between adults and ask the question that matters most: “What is in the best interest of the child?”
- Our guiding belief is simple: When parents separate, children should not.




- The successful volunteer will help bring this message to life through thoughtful conversations, interviews, educational discussions and stories that encourage understanding rather than blame.

Responsibilities

- Coordinate podcast recordings
- Research guests and discussion topics
- Assist with episode planning
- Conduct or support interviews
- Help promote episodes through social media and partner networks

Qualifications

- Podcast Host & Producer, you will help develop and host weekly episodes, prepare interview questions and discussion topics, identify and engage potential guests, conduct interviews, guide conversations and help ensure that each episode remains compassionate, balanced, informative and centred on children.
- You will also contribute to the development of the podcast's tone, format and content strategy, working with the Put Children First team to build a consistent and credible public voice.
- The first season will explore subjects including what children experience during separation, shared parenting through a child's eyes, parental conflict, emotional wellbeing, healing after high conflict, rebuilding trust, stability, cooperative co-parenting and when shared parenting works best.

Who We Are Looking For

- We are looking for someone who is an excellent communicator and comfortable speaking with parents, professionals, advocates, researchers, community leaders and other guests.
- You should be a strong listener who can ask thoughtful questions and create conversations where people feel respected and heard.
- Podcasting, broadcasting, journalism, communications, interviewing, media production or content creation experience would be an asset, but passion for the mission and the ability to communicate with authenticity are equally key.
- You should understand that this is a sensitive subject. The ability to remain compassionate, respectful and child-centred, even when discussing difficult or emotionally charged experiences, is essential.
