BGC East Scarborough (BGCES) is seeking a dedicated, organized, and experienced Site Lead, Before & Afterschool Programs to oversee the daily operations and delivery of engaging, safe, and high-quality programming for children.
Reporting to the Coordinator, Children & Early Teens Services – Program Operations, the Site Lead is responsible for coordinating daily site activities, supporting and guiding program staff, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable regulations, and fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for children and families.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage daily program operations, respond to emerging needs, and contribute to the ongoing quality and development of BGCES programs.
Report to: Coordinator, Children & Early Teens Services – Program Operations
Key Duties and Responsibilities of this position include:
· Oversee the daily operations and delivery of Before & Afterschool Programs, ensuring activities are engaging, age-appropriate, inclusive, and aligned with BGCES standards.
· Coordinate daily program schedules, activities, transitions, and routines to ensure effective program delivery and a positive experience for children.
· Support the implementation of developmentally appropriate programming that promotes children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
· Monitor daily program activities and address operational challenges to maintain consistency, quality, and effective use of program resources.
· Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance, and support to program staff, promoting accountability, teamwork, and consistent program delivery.
· Coordinate staff assignments, daily responsibilities, and scheduling requirements to ensure appropriate program coverage and operational effectiveness.
· Support staff development by identifying training needs, sharing feedback, and encouraging participation in professional development opportunities.
· Promote a positive and collaborative team environment that supports effective communication, professional conduct, and high-quality programming.
· Maintain a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all children, ensuring that health, safety, and supervision requirements are consistently met.
· Ensure compliance with BGCES policies and procedures, applicable licensing requirements, health and safety standards, and relevant regulatory obligations.
· Monitor program quality and staff practices, identifying areas for improvement and implementing appropriate corrective measures in consultation with the Coordinator.
· Respond promptly and appropriately to incidents, emergencies, behavioural concerns, and other safety-related matters, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
· Maintain accurate and timely attendance records, incident reports, program documentation, and other required administrative records.
· Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding children's participation, program activities, concerns, and relevant updates.
· Prepare and submit required reports, documentation, and operational updates to the Coordinator, Children & Early Teens Services – Program Operations.
· Collaborate with the Coordinator and other team members to support program planning, continuous improvement, and the achievement of departmental and organizational objectives.
· Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· College diploma or university degree in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, Social Services, Recreation, or a related field.
· Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in child-focused programming, childcare, or a related setting.
· Demonstrated experience supporting staff, coordinating daily activities, and maintaining a safe and positive environment for children.
· Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification.
· Valid Vulnerable Sector Check in accordance with organizational requirements.
· Knowledge of child development, positive behaviour guidance, and inclusive programming practices.
· Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.
· HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development and Quest 2 certification, or willingness to obtain them.
· Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle where operationally required for the position is considered an asset.

· Program Management: Ability to organize daily activities, manage competing priorities, and maintain effective program operations.
· Child Development: Knowledge of child development, positive behaviour guidance, and age-appropriate programming.
· Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and staff.
· Problem-Solving: Ability to respond to operational challenges, resolve conflicts, and address concerns appropriately.
· Organization and Administration: Ability to maintain accurate records, manage documentation, and meet reporting requirements.
· Safety and Compliance: Understanding of child safety, supervision practices, and applicable policies and regulations.
· Inclusion and Relationship-Building: Ability to foster a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive workplace for children, families, and colleagues..
Assets should include:
· Experience working in licensed childcare or school-age programs.
· Knowledge of applicable childcare regulations, health and safety standards, and program quality requirements.
· Experience working with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
· Safe Food Handling certification.
· Experience using program management systems and maintaining accurate administrative records.

Pay: $18.00-$19.00 per hour
