Wilkens Health and Safety Solutions (WHSS) is seeking a recent team member to join our office of health and safety and human resources consultants and support staff. This six month contract position is open due to a staff leave of absence. The ideal candidate for this role is a self-starter who is seeking a career in administration with a focus on health and safety and human resources.
As the Administrative Assistant you will support the Principal Consultant, Health and Safety Excellence Specialist , Trainers and Senior Program assistant deliver high quality injury prevention, human resources consulting to WHSS clients. The incumbent for this intermediate-level position will require strong administrative skills and word processing skills. You will be responsible for completing administrative tasks to assist in keeping the office running smoothly, including:
- Support Principal Consultant with delivering injury prevention and human resources programming, including support for the Health and Safety Excellence program;
- Liaise with clients to ensure quality service is provided;
- Word processing of various client manuals;
- Providing administrative and office support; and
- Review and update training manuals.
In addition, this position requires the incumbent to provide support to the Owner/Principal Consultant to maintain the local multi-sector Health and Safety Excellence program.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Support the Owner/ Principal with delivering injury prevention and human resources consulting services.
- Liaise with clients to ensure quality service is provided.
- Perform day-to-day administrative tasks.
- Word processing and editing;
- Update policy and procedure manuals.
Required Skills:
- Effective time-management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent editing skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to join a diverse team and support all team members’ various needs.
- General office administration tasks.
- Update client policy manuals.
- Well-rounded computer/technical skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Ability to support a team of consultants and trainers as needed.
- Working knowledge of the current provincial legislation is considered an asset (i.e.: Occupational Health and Safety, Employment Standards, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act).
- All applicants must have a valid driver’s license and must have their own vehicle, as some local travel is required.
Experience: Minimum 2 – 5 years’ experience in an administrative role
Education: Postsecondary education in Office Administration and/or Human Resources
Job Type: Six month contract – hours per week are negotiable but a minimum of 30 hours per week are required.
