Adecco is currently hiring a General Accountant for a full-time opportunity in Whitby, ON. This role is ideal for accounting professionals pursuing their CPA designation who have experience in financial reporting, budgeting, accounts payable, financial analysis, month-end processes, and accounting compliance.

As a General Accountant, you will play a key role in preparing financial statements, analyzing accounting data, supporting budgeting activities, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.

Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis

- Prepare and analyze financial reports, statements, budgets, and business forecasts.

- Compile and interpret accounting data to support business decision-making.

- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.

- Perform account reconciliations and variance analysis.

Accounting Operations

- Support accounts payable activities and ensure timely processing of transactions.

- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.

- Assist with journal entries, accruals, and general ledger maintenance.

- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Budgeting & Business Support

- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.

- Assist in preparing management reports and financial commentaries.

- Analyze operational and financial performance data.

- Contribute to special projects and process improvement initiatives.

Compliance & Controls

- Support compliance with SOX requirements and accounting standards.

- Ensure financial reporting aligns with IFRS, ASPE, and US GAAP where applicable.





- Assist with internal and external audit requests.

- Maintain accurate and organized accounting documentation.

Qualifications and Skills:

- Undergraduate degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.

- CPA designation completed or actively pursuing CPA certification preferred.

- Minimum 3 years of accounting or finance experience in a business environment.

- Previous accounts payable experience required.

- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting practices.

- Understanding of SOX compliance, IFRS, ASPE, and US GAAP.

- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex spreadsheets and financial analysis.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access).

- Experience with ERP systems; BPCS/AS400 experience is considered an asset.

- Cost accounting or costing experience is considered an asset.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

- Strong communication skills and professional business acumen.

- Self-motivated and capable of working independently and collaboratively.

- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and changing setting.

- Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
