The Role

We are looking for full-time Large Diameter Piling Drillers to support our work in and around Edmonton (2), Calgary (1) and Regina (1). Previous experience as a driller is critical to this role.

The drilling operator is responsible for operating piling drill equipment to drill open and cased holes for use as foundation support for various structures and also horizontal temporary anchors. The Operator plans daily installations, reviews construction documentation, evaluates site conditions, anticipates and solves potential installation issues and assures standards of safety and quality are consistently met or exceeded while maintaining the timeline of the project schedule. The Driller/Piling Operator is responsible for the safe operation of their assigned piece of equipment and proper maintenance of that equipment.

Compensation & Benefits

- $40.00 - $50.00 per hour depending on experience
- Time and a half after 8 hours per day or 40 (SK) 44 (AB) hours per week
- 10% vacation and stat holiday pay on all regular hours
- $2.00 per hour out of town premium
- $2.00 per hour night shift premium
- $2.00 per hour incentive after 30 days if you join our drug and alcohol-free program

Job Duties/Responsibilities

- Experience operating Drilling Rigs: Watson 1100 - 2500, Soilmec SR30 - SR75, Liebherr 28 - LB36, BG24 and other various equipment as required
- Experience operating cranes, skid steer, loader, excavator would be considered an asset.
- Encourage positive attitudes towards OHS and Alberta/Saskatchewan Legislation
- Must ensure that workers use the correct protective equipment and ensure overall safety of crew
- Must advise workers of potential and actual hazards
- Actively participate in Inspections and Audits
- Must perform employee competency reviews as required by Double Star and the Client
- Ensure that all hazards and incidents are reported and investigated and that suitable controls are implemented with follow-up
- Must participate in Toolbox Meetings and actively engage with workers
- Must ensure that all paperwork (FLHA’s, Equipment Inspections etc.) are completed and that they are reviewed, and deficiencies are reported immediately
- Must keep a daily journal of all activities and conversations between workers and management
- Ensure that all daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork is completed and handed in on time
- Operate assigned drilling machinery and communicate work scope plan
- Complete all required daily safety site paperwork
- Perform pre-operational inspections, safety checks, load chart calculations, and daily logs




- Communicate with assigned crews
- Must be comfortable with survey equipment
- Ability to read grade stakes and elevations
- Reading and following plans, drawings and engineered designs
- May perform other related duties as assigned

Education/Training/Soft Skills

- Minimum 1 year operating a SR30 or equivalent, minimum 2 years drilling experience
- Will be required to perform a drug and alcohol test for pre-project access or post-incident
- Must be on time and fit for duty for all shifts
- Mechanically inclined
- Leadership skills
- Reading and following work scope plans, drawings and engineered designs
- Must have excellent organizational, administrative, communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills
- Valid CSTS 2020 from ACSA
- Valid WHMIS Certification
- Valid Ground Disturbance 2 Certification
- Class 5 Drivers License

Job Information

- In town (60%) and out of town work (40%)
- 10-12 hours per day
- Monday to Friday with work on weekends as required
- Working outside in various weather conditions
- Dusty, loud environments
- Working on busy construction sites around heavy equipment and moving parts
- Able to walk on uneven terrain as well as sitting/driving for extended periods of time
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs

Pay: $40.00-$50.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 60.0 per week
