About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a gentleman living with moderate to severe dementia/Alzheimer's in Toronto. He recently moved from Georgetown to be closer to family and now lives on the main floor of a triplex, with his son and family residing upstairs. While he maintains a degree of independence with showering, grooming, and basic meal prep, he benefits greatly from gentle reminders and supervision. He responds well to caregivers and tends to be more receptive to guidance from professional support than from family members. Social engagement is important as isolation has contributed to his decline in the past.

Responsibilities:

- Provide companionship and social engagement during visits
- Light housekeeping and tidying to maintain a clean, safe environment
- Meal preparation assistance including reheating meals and providing reminders to eat
- Medication reminders to ensure proper adherence
- Gentle prompting for personal hygiene tasks like showering and grooming
- Mobility support including assistance with walking and transfers
- Memory care support through redirection and cognitive prompts
- Encourage light physical activity such as short walks to the nearby park or time on the front porch
- Monitor safety and well-being throughout visits

What We're Looking For:

- Experience working with clients who have dementia or Alzheimer's disease
- Ability to provide memory care including prompts and redirection techniques
- Comfortable assisting with mobility and transfers
- Patient, calm demeanor with strong communication skills
- Takes initiative and anticipates needs without being asked
- Makes clients feel comfortable and respected




- Reliable and consistent with scheduled visits
- English speaking
- Ability to increase hours temporarily when family travels

Schedule:

We're looking to start with three visits per week, two hours per visit (6 hours weekly total). Flexible on specific days - Monday, Wednesday, Friday works well, though weekends are also possible. Tuesday is generally the least preferred day. Schedule flexibility is appreciated as care needs may increase over time, and additional hours will be needed during family travel periods with advance notice provided.

- Manage medication reminders
- Perform light housekeeping and tidying
- Encourage and accompany on short walks to the nearby park or time on the front porch
- Provide companionship and social engagement

What We're Looking For:

- PSW certification required
- Experience working with clients with dementia or Alzheimer's disease
- Someone who makes clients feel comfortable and at ease
- Takes initiative when needed without being prompted
- Communicates clearly with family members about care and any concerns
- Patient, calm, and brings positive energy to visits
- Respects client independence while providing necessary support

Schedule:

Starting with 6 hours per week split into three 2-hour visits (flexible on days except Tuesday). Schedule flexibility is important as the client's son travels frequently and will need increased hours during those periods with advance notice. Weekend availability is welcome. Long-term consistency is valued as care needs are expected to increase over time, and we're looking for someone who can grow with the family's evolving needs.
