The Project Manager is a key role at Klass Drywall and is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, execution, and successful completion of drywall projects. The primary purpose of this position is to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project requirements.
The Project Manager works closely with senior management, clients, general contractors, site supervisors, suppliers, and field staff.
The following is a list of duties that apply; however, other duties may be necessary to complete projects.
Project Planning & Coordination
- Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and scope of work.
- Meet with clients, general contractors, and management to review project requirements, timelines, and priorities.
- Plan labour, materials, deliveries, and project milestones.
- Coordinate with senior management regarding new and ongoing projects.
- Identify potential scheduling, scope, or site issues before they impact the project.
Project Execution
- Manage assigned projects from startup through completion.
- Monitor project progress, timelines, labour requirements, and site conditions.
- Coordinate with site supervisors, foremen, suppliers, and clients to keep work progressing efficiently.
- Attend project meetings and site visits as required.
- Resolve project issues, scheduling conflicts, and site concerns in a timely manner.
Budget & Cost Management
- Prepare and maintain project budgets based on awarded project values.
- Monitor labour, material, subcontractor, and other project costs.
- Review project performance against budget and identify potential cost overruns.
- Coordinate with senior management regarding project finances and expected project performance.
Change Orders & Documentation
- Identify and document work outside the original project scope.
- Prepare, submit, and track change orders and additional work.
- Maintain accurate records of contracts, change orders, drawings, site instructions, and project correspondence.
- Review updated drawings, specifications, bulletins, and project revisions.
- Prepare and track RFIs and project submittals where required.
Scheduling & Material Coordination
- Monitor construction schedules and key project milestones.
- Coordinate manpower requirements with management and field supervision.
- Coordinate material orders, deliveries, and supplier requirements.
- Identify upcoming scheduling conflicts, material shortages, or project delays.
Client Communication
- Maintain clear and professional communication with clients, general contractors, consultants, suppliers, and internal staff.
- Provide updates regarding project progress, scheduling, changes, and outstanding issues.
- Address client concerns and project issues promptly and professionally.
- Maintain strong working relationships with clients and project partners.
Quality, Safety & Closeout
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, contractual requirements, and company standards.
- Coordinate and follow up on deficiencies.
- Promote compliance with Klass Drywall health and safety policies and applicable regulations.
- Complete site audits or inspections as required.
- Coordinate project closeout, including outstanding change orders, deficiencies, documentation, and final project requirements.
General Expectations
The general expectation of the Project Manager is to ensure assigned projects are completed within the proper budgets and timelines while maintaining strong communication with senior management and project stakeholders.
Diligent record keeping, attention to detail, organization, problem solving, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential to this role.
Position Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in residential and/or commercial construction.
- Project management or project coordination experience is considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience with project budgets, scheduling, change orders, and construction documentation.
- Solid communication, organizational, and computer skills.
- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel throughout Southwestern Ontario.
Position Details
Position: Project Manager
Location: Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge, with additional travel throughout Southwestern Ontario
Compensation: $60,000–$80,000 annually, plus fuel expenses
Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week
Contract Term: Six-month contract, with the possibility of extension depending on project needs.
Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
