AWS/CES is looking for a Supplier Development Engineer

Huron Park, Ontario | Direct Hire | Day Shift | $90,000–$100,000/Year

We are seeking an experienced Supplier Development Engineer to join a growing manufacturing team in Huron Park, Ontario. This position will focus on supplier quality, development, APQP, PPAP, process improvement, and continuous improvement within an automotive/heavy-duty manufacturing workplace.

Key Responsibilities

- Evaluate, audit, and qualify new and existing suppliers based on quality, technical capability, capacity, and reliability.
- Lead supplier-side APQP activities for new products and engineering changes, including feasibility reviews, process flows, PFMEAs, Control Plans, PPAP reviews, and approvals.
- Conduct supplier process and system audits to ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, AIAG, and customer-specific requirements.
- Monitor supplier performance using KPIs such as PPM, on-time delivery, corrective action responsiveness, and cost of poor quality.
- Lead supplier performance reviews and work with suppliers to address performance concerns.
- Lead resolution of supplier non-conformances using 8D, 5-Why, Root Cause Analysis, containment, and corrective action processes.
- Partner with suppliers to improve manufacturing processes, reduce defects and variation, and implement SPC, capability studies, and error-proofing.
- Identify supplier risks related to capacity, quality, single-source dependencies, and financial stability, and develop mitigation plans.
- Collaborate with Purchasing, Quality, Engineering,



and Production to meet company and customer requirements.
- Maintain accurate supplier records and documentation in SAP and the quality management system.
- Maintain clear communication with internal and external stakeholders and escalate supplier risks when necessary.
- Travel to supplier locations as needed.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of supplier quality or supplier development experience in an automotive or heavy-duty manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, and SPC.
- Proven experience leading supplier problem-solving using 8D, Root Cause Analysis, and 5-Why.
- Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and AIAG quality requirements.
- Experience working with SAP.
- Technical understanding of machining processes, castings, forgings, and heat treatment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T.;
- Experience conducting supplier process and system audits.
- Ability and willingness to travel to supplier locations as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

- P.Eng. or EIT designation.
- IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 auditor certification or ASQ certification such as CQE or CSQP.
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
- Experience with supplier cost reduction and value analysis.
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
