Position: Speech-Language Pathologist

Full-time Contract Position (18 months)

Reporting to the Team Supervisor Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for the coordination and delivery of communication services to children, birth to school entry facing developmental or mental health challenges, families, and caregivers. The Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for the coordination and delivery of communication services to children and their families. The services are provided in keeping with the design and mandate of the program, ensuring that they are offered in a flexible, family-centered manner that promotes family involvement in decision-making and intervention.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct formal and informal communication assessments for children and families.
- Provide consultation to employees, families, and community partners.
- Assess children's communication development needs and recommend next steps (e.g., further assessment, referrals, strategies).
- Deliver communication therapy or consultation services in natural environments (home, childcare, preschool).
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized family support plans in collaboration with families and partners.
- Facilitate family involvement and education through sessions and group programs (e.g., parent education), including after-hours when required.
- Advocate for children and families within the community, including making appropriate referrals.
- Respond to requests for presentations and workshops related to communication development.
- Provide formal and informal peer consultations on referrals, resources, problem-solving, and interagency collaboration.
- Supervise and train Master’s-level students, communicative disorders assistants, volunteers,



and in-home workers.
- Maintain and share current research and best practices related to services for children and families.
- Organize and maintain literature, equipment, and resources.
- Maintain ongoing professional development.
- Fulfill administrative and safety responsibilities, including:
- Being accessible by cell phone while on duty.
- Holding a valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
- Following Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications:

- A Master’s Degree from a recognized school of Speech-Language Pathology and eligibility for registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) is required. Mentorship opportunities are available.
- Two years of previous experience working with birth to six years, including those with developmental delays and their families.
- Knowledge of early child development.
- Previous placement in early childhood practices
- Ability to understand and acknowledge the family as the primary force in a child’s life.
- Professional capacity to function independently in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Capacity to function in collaboration with community partners.
- Proficiency in French or other languages is an asset.
- Computer proficiency and experience using virtual platforms.

Hours of Work: 35 hours/week. The agency’s regular hours of operation are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Flexibility is required to meet service needs.
