We are a growing food manufacturer building a high-performing manufacturing team at our facility in Mississauga, Ontario.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a hands-on Sanitation Lead responsible for maintaining high standards of sanitation and helping ensure our facility and production equipment are ready to safely manufacture food every day.
This person will lead sanitation activities, verify work is completed properly, and work closely with Operations and Food Safety to continuously improve sanitation practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day sanitation activities throughout the manufacturing facility
- Ensure production equipment and food-contact surfaces are cleaned according to established procedures
- Execute and maintain the master sanitation schedule
- Assign sanitation activities and verify completion
- Perform inspections following sanitation activities
- Prepare equipment and production areas for pre-operational inspection
- Ensure proper use, concentration, storage, and handling of sanitation chemicals. Valuable understanding of the WHMIS
- Ensure only approved food grade chemicals are use in sanitation.
- Train employees on sanitation procedures and safe chemical handling
- Maintain sanitation documentation and records
- Support allergen cleaning and changeover procedures
- Identify sanitation deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are completed
- Work with Operations to establish effective cleaning schedules
- Coordinate deep-cleaning activities
- Support environmental monitoring and food safety verification activities as required
- Ensure cleaning equipment and supplies are properly maintained
- Follow lockout/tagout and equipment safety requirements. .
- Maintain strong housekeeping standards throughout the facility
- Help develop and improve sanitation procedures as the operation grows
What We're Looking For
- 2-3+ years of sanitation experience in food manufacturing or the pharmaceutical industry.
- Previous sanitation leadership experience is preferred
- Strong understanding of GMP and food safety requirements
- Experience with sanitation chemicals and industrial cleaning procedures
- Understanding of allergen-control practices
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to lead and train employees
- Strong documentation and organizational skills
- Comfortable working around industrial food-processing equipment
