Job Purpose: The Estimator (Intermediate to Senior) independently leads tenders from bid/no-bid through submission and supports NMC's negotiated and design-assist pursuits, adding the bid capacity required for growth to $100M in annual revenue by 2030, including Southern Alberta. Level (Intermediate or Senior) is set at offer based on demonstrated experience. The role is expected to lead a mid-size bid within 60 days.

Key Responsibilities:

- Take ownership of assigned tenders ($10M–$25M; larger for Senior-level hire) from bid/no-bid through final submission, meeting all bid deadlines.
- Lead or support negotiated, design-assist and CM pursuits: Class D to Class A estimates, cost plans and value engineering options.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing across Divisions 1–33.
- Manage subcontractor and supplier invitations, coverage, follow-up and bid leveling across the Kootenays, Okanagan and Southern Alberta.
- Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers on pricing, scope and contractual terms during the tender period.
- Draft and track RFIs and incorporate addenda into the live estimate.
- Conduct risk assessments on tenders, including remote logistics,



winter constructability and BC Energy Step Code requirements.
- Prepare and present cost plans, budgets and Bills of Quantities based on architectural and technical drawings.
- Develop preliminary schedules and general requirements aligned with project scope.
- Attend site visits, tender interviews, client presentations and handover meetings as required.
- Use and verify AI-assisted takeoffs, document review and bid tools in line with NMC Policy AI.1.
- Update the historical cost and vendor databases post-tender.
- Mentor junior estimating staff and contribute to estimating process improvement.
- Uphold Health & Safety standards throughout the pre-construction and construction process.

Pay: $100,000.00-$130,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Nelson, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
