Senior Accountant (Remote Public Practice Contract)

Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to provide immediate contract support during a busy period (full-time daytime hours). This is a fully remote contract opportunity operating in the Mountain Time Zone, ideal for a hands-on CPA who enjoys solving problems, working through complex files, and operating independently in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment. This position is heavily focused on file preparation, compilation engagements, and T2 work. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the firm reduce backlog, and support client deliverables during a critical period.

Your success will be defined by your ability to:

- Prepare compilation engagements from start to finish, including working through incomplete or messy client records
- Complete T2 corporate tax work and supporting file preparation
- Analyze client information, identify discrepancies, and apply sound professional judgment
- Work efficiently through a high volume of files while maintaining quality and accuracy
- Communicate proactively regarding file status, outstanding information, and technical issues
- Make practical decisions and keep engagements moving forward with minimal supervision
- Adapt quickly to existing workflows and become productive with minimal ramp-up time
- Thrive in an environment where initiative, resourcefulness, and problem-solving are essential

Your strengths include:

- CPA designation (required)
- Strong public practice experience with compilations and T2 preparation
- Proven ability to prepare files independently with minimal oversight




- Strong technical accounting knowledge and professional judgment
- Experience working with messy books and records and incomplete client information
- Ability to balance quality, efficiency, and productivity in a deadline-driven environment
- Excellent organization, prioritization, and time-management skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and confidence making judgment calls when required
- Comfortable working remotely while maintaining consistent communication
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and highly accountable
- Experience in a small-firm public practice environment is considered a strong asset
- Ability to start quickly
