About us
Chipman Laundry has been part of Kenora since the 1960s. We provide uniform, mat, linen and facility services to businesses across Northwestern Ontario - Kenora, Dryden, Red Lake, Sioux Lookout and the communities in between.
We're locally owned. Our plant is here, our trucks are here, and when a customer has a problem they talk to someone in town rather than a call centre in another province. That matters more than you'd think in this business, and it's the main reason we win accounts.
The prospect
Most businesses in this region already have a supplier, and a lot of them aren't happy about it. Your job is to find those companies and show them there's a better option close to home.
This is outbound B2B sales - calls, emails and face-to-face meetings. Accounts are worth anywhere from $50 to $500 a week on multi-year agreements, so every deal you close keeps paying. Some come together in a couple of weeks. The bigger ones take longer and are worth the patience.
The territory is wide open. We have one real competitor in this region - a national supplier running routes out of Winnipeg - and they're losing accounts here regularly on service. There are somewhere between 1,500 and 2,000 businesses and institutions across our service area, and we're nowhere near covering them.
In the past few months alone we've opened accounts with airports, municipalities, hotels and industrial sites. Those came from picking up the phone and turning up. There is a great deal more sitting there for someone who works it properly.
What the week looks like
Two or three days in the field, the rest in the office. You'll travel through the region regularly, including day trips to Sioux Lookout, Red Lake, Dryden,
Fort Frances and the eastern part of Manitoba. Company vehicle provided.
Office days are where the week gets built - prospecting, quoting and booking the meetings that fill your road days. We run on Pipedrive and log conversations as we go, so nothing gets lost and good leads don't go cold. We'll train you on the system and the product.
We set weekly targets and review them together. You'll always know exactly where you stand, and you'll have support getting there.
Who does well here
People who are comfortable picking up the phone. Who keep track of their follow-ups. Who'd rather have a clear number to hit than a vague sense of doing alright.
If you've sold B2B before, you'll recognise the work. If you've sold in another industry and you're good at it, we can teach you laundry - the product knowledge is the easy part.
A valid driver's G class licence and a clean abstract are required.
What we offer
Base salary plus commission on new business, with no cap. Someone hitting their numbers should expect $70,000 to $100,000 in the first year, and there's substantially more available above that as your book grows.
Company vehicle, fuel and phone. Direct access to the owner - this is a small business and you'll be working alongside the person making the decisions, not three layers below them. Real training, not a binder and a handshake.
To apply
Send us your resume and a short note. If you've worked in sales before, tell us what your target was and how you did against it. If you haven't, tell us about a time you had a number to hit and how you went about it.
We read every application.
