Hours: 35 hours per week, scheduled between 7:00 a.m.– 6:00 p.m., Monday to Friday
Reports To: Assistant Director

Compensation

- Base Wage: $19.00–$21.00/hour
- ECE Wage Top-Up: Level 2 - 5.05, Level 3 - 8.62

Wage top-ups are subject to eligibility and applicable government funding requirements.

About the Role

The Lead Educator provides hands-on classroom leadership, educator mentorship, and administrative support to the Assistant Director.

This role strengthens consistency across programs, supports educator development, and helps maintain high standards for safety, programming, child guidance, and professional practice.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead consistent, high-quality practice across assigned programs.
- Plan engaging programming aligned with FLIGHT and Montessori principles.
- Maintain strong child supervision, safety, and attendance practices.
- Model positive, responsive, and developmentally appropriate child guidance.
- Mentor educators and strengthen classroom practice and accountability.
- Promote inclusive environments responsive to individual children's needs.
- Build positive and professional relationships with children and families.
- Support the Assistant Director with administration, records, and documentation.
- Support smooth daily staffing, classroom coverage, routines, and transitions.
- Identify concerns, follow through on priorities, and uphold Stars' standards and values.
- Other duties as required .

Qualifications

- Alberta ECE Level 2 or Level 3 Certification
- Valid First Aid & CPR




- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
- Child Intervention Record Check
- Alberta Class 5 non-GDL Driver's Licence and willingness to obtain Class 4
- Explicit Drivers Abstract
- Strong knowledge of child development and positive child guidance
- Strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills
- Comfortable using digital systems and standard office applications
- Montessori and/or FLIGHT knowledge considered an asset

Experience

- 2–3 years of experience as a Lead Educator or in a comparable ECE leadership role
- Experience working in a licensed childcare or educational setting
- Demonstrated experience mentoring and supporting educators
- Experience planning and implementing developmentally appropriate programming
- Experience communicating professionally with families
- Administrative or childcare centre-operations experience considered an asset
