Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; 100% onsite
Compensation: $65,000 to $75,000 + performance based bonus eligibility beginning in Year 2

Our client is a well-established manufacturer and distributor of specialized industrial equipment used in demanding processing and manufacturing environments. Their products combine mechanical, electrical and controls technology to deliver highly precise, customer-specific solutions. Based in Mississauga, the organization offers a collaborative, hands-on environment where Engineering works closely with Production, Purchasing, Sales, Project Coordination and Service to bring equipment from design through manufacturing and completion.

Position Overview
Our client is looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing Engineering team in Mississauga, ON. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career electrical design professional who wants to build deeper technical expertise while working on custom industrial machinery and automated equipment from design through production, testing and commissioning.

Using AutoCAD Electrical, you'll create and modify electrical designs for multiple customer-specific equipment projects while also providing electrical and controls support to Production and Service. You'll work with components including motors, VFDs, sensors, load cells, control panels, safety circuits, relays and contactors, with exposure to PLC/HMI configuration and troubleshooting.

You'll have access to experienced technical resources as you learn the company's equipment and processes, with the opportunity to take on increasingly complex projects and greater design ownership over time.

What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with approximately 1 to 3 years of relevant electrical design experience, ideally involving industrial machinery, automation, custom/OEM equipment or electromechanical manufacturing. AutoCAD Electrical and basic PLC/HMI capabilities are required, along with solid electrical fundamentals and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues. You'll be detail oriented, curious and hands-on, with the ability to manage multiple projects, solve problems and collaborate effectively with Engineering, Production and Service.

What You'll Be Doing

Create and modify wiring diagrams, panel layouts and electrical BOMs using AutoCAD Electrical for customer-specific industrial equipment.
Manage electrical design requirements across approximately 10 to 15 active projects, shifting between projects as they progress through approvals, revisions and production.
Work with electrical and controls components including motors, VFDs, sensors, load cells, control panels, safety circuits, relays, contactors and I/O.
Adapt established electrical designs to individual project requirements and occasionally select new electrical components or review components selected by Mechanical Design.
Perform basic PLC/HMI work, including writing basic ladder logic, setting up and configuring PLCs and troubleshooting controls issues.
Work closely with Mechanical Design and Production to ensure electrical and mechanical requirements integrate correctly as equipment moves from design into manufacturing.
Participate in equipment testing, commissioning and troubleshooting, providing technical support to Production and Service as issues arise.
Provide some post-shipment technical support and interact with customers, suppliers and external electrical vendors regarding technical questions, component selection, troubleshooting and project-related issues.
Maintain accurate electrical drawings, BOMs and project documentation while ensuring designs align with applicable electrical requirements and internal standards.
Develop deeper knowledge of the company's equipment and processes, progressing toward greater independence and ownership of more complex electrical design work.

What You'll Need

Approximately 1 to 3 years of relevant electrical design experience, ideally within industrial machinery, automation, custom/OEM equipment or electromechanical manufacturing.
Professional experience using AutoCAD Electrical is required.
Basic PLC/HMI experience is required, including the ability to work with basic ladder logic, PLC setup/configuration and controls troubleshooting.
Strong electrical fundamentals,



including an understanding of AC/DC circuits, motors, sensors, I/O, wiring, relays, contactors and electrical drawings.
Good electrical and controls problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Basic knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and NEC, with knowledge of CSA and UL standards.
Experience with RSLogix, Studio 5000 and/or Siemens LOGO! Soft Comfort is preferred. Experience with EPLAN is an asset.
An Electrical Engineering Technology diploma is preferred. Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related education will also be considered, with practical experience and electrical knowledge valued most heavily.
Ability to manage multiple active projects and changing priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with Engineering, Production, Service and other internal and external stakeholders.
