Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and reliable Special Education Tutor to provide in-home one-on-one tutoring for students with diverse learning needs in Surrey, Delta, White Rock, Tsawwassen, and Langley.

Students may range from elementary to high school, depending on your experience and comfort level.

Tutors in this role typically support students with:

- ADHD
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Dyslexia and other reading challenges
- Learning disabilities
- Behavioural or emotional barriers to learning
- Executive functioning difficulties
- General academic struggles

Responsibilities

- Provide individualized in-home tutoring tailored to each student’s learning needs
- Adapt teaching strategies, lesson pacing, and materials for diverse learning styles
- Support students in core subjects depending on your expertise (literacy, math, science, English, study skills, etc.)
- Foster a patient, structured, and supportive learning environment
- Help build executive functioning skills (organization, planning, working memory) when needed
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly




- Communicate regularly with parents/caregivers about progress and goals
- Complete a session report after each lesson
- Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and solid communication

Qualifications

Required:

- Experience supporting students with special or diverse learning needs
- Ability to adapt instruction to individual learning profiles
- Patient, calm, encouraging, and able to connect with students
- Reliable transportation for in-home sessions

Assets (Not Required):

- EA/SEA certification
- Behaviour intervention experience
- Special Education coursework or training
- BC Teacher certification (B.Ed/Certified Teacher)
- Experience with IEPs, modified/adapted programs, or academic accommodations
- Skilled in teaching reading, writing, math, or study/organization strategies

Job Requirements

- Must have a valid Canadian work permit
- Available for 1–4 hours per week (part-time)
- Comfortable working in students’ homes across Surrey, Delta, White Rock, Tsawwassen, and/or Langley
- Able to commit to consistent weekly scheduling

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $23.00-$34.00 per hour
