Duties

As a Civil Aviation Safety Inspector, you will contribute to the safety of Canada’s aviation system by administering and enforcing regulatory requirements, assessing risks, and supporting a systems-based approach to aviation safety oversight. The duties and responsibilities of Civil Aviation Safety Inspectors include, but are not limited to, the following:

Collaborates effectively with stakeholders and responds to their evolving needs.

Exercise sound judgment and take timely, decisive action in complex situations, while leveraging collaboration and facilitation skills to support behavioural change and foster expertise in client-centered service delivery.

Exercises assigned responsibilities in compliance with departmental delegation authorities, policies, and applicable legislation.

Work under pressure to identify actual or potential conflicts and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Accountable for making decisions that have a direct impact on the safety and well‑being of Canadians.

Screened in: I have over 14 years of experience working with MS Office Suite software: Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Excel. During my college education as a Legal Administrative Assistant, it was imperative that I maintain over an 80% average in all MS Office programs, and I maintained over a 95% average in all programs. During my work experience as a Position A, Position B, and Position C, I used MS Word daily to draft various documents, letters, and memos to staff members and clientele.

I used MS Excel daily to update all product orders to clients within the industry and maintained an accurate parts inventory. In Position C at Company X, I used Excel create a budget spreadsheet, track expenses, and create monthly summary reports and graphs. In all the previously listed positions, I used MS Outlook daily to write emails, and send documents to staff members, clientele, and taxpayers in addition to the calendar function to schedule internal and external meetings, organizing my tasks, etc.

As a Position D with Company Y, I use MS word to create posters, flyers, questionnaires, and invitations to clientele and team members. I use MS Excel to create and maintain an accurate accounting system for accounts payables, receivables, incomes, and expenses.

Willing and able to occasionally work overtime outside core business hours (evenings or weekend), generally planned in advance at mutually acceptable times.





Willing and able to occasionally perform inspection and oversight activities in various aviation environments that may be hazardous.

Willing and able to travel within the region (quarterly), nationally (usually annually) or internationally (rarely).

You need (essential for the job)

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following

ED1: A secondary school diploma (high school) or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1). ANDA successful completion of post-secondary education with a diploma/degree in aircraft maintenance or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to aircraft maintenance and/or manufacturing. Note 1: The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

EX1: Recent* experience working as a licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) with Certifying Authority in a Canadian Maintenance or Manufacturing Organization, including the performance of complex activities in a wide variety of situations while demonstrating an increasing level of responsibility.

Ability to interpret and apply the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and Standards that relate to the maintenance and the manufacture of aeronautical products.

Asset experience

Rotorcraft operations (Airline, Air Taxi or Recreational Aircraft).

Fixed wing operations (Airline, Air Taxi or Recreational Aircraft).

Non-Destructive Testing, and/or.

Repair or modifications of structures (sheet metal, tubular, composite, etc.).

Experience in the supervision or management of quality programs that include quality control and/or quality assurance systems.

Experience in the supervision or management of Safety Management Systems (SMS).
