Community & Content Intern

Location: Toronto, Canada (On-site, in the office every day)

Employment Type: Internship, full-time, minimum 8 months

Experience Level: Entry level / recent graduate

Compensation: CAD $750 per month

Reports To: Head of Growth / CEO

About the Company

MyHives is a safety-technology company building BEEKON, a personal safety guardian that tells the people you trust when you need them. We combine mobile technology, smart detection, and connected hardware to give people protection they can rely on. We are a small, rapid-moving team where interns work on real growth problems from week one and see the result of their work in the numbers.

About the Role

We are looking for a community and content intern who is comfortable in front of people and in front of a camera. This is a hands-on growth role. You will spend your days talking to real people, creating content that gets watched, and turning conversations into activated users and customers.

You will be the person on our team who is physically in the room with the people we want to reach, so you will hear things nobody else in the company hears. Part of your job is writing those things down and bringing them back to the team.

This is a full-time, in-office internship in Toronto. You will work closely with the Head of Growth, CEO and the wider team, and you will be given real ownership of your work rather than a pile of admin.

Key Responsibilities

Community and Outreach

- Reach out to and build relationships with student groups, sports clubs, hospitality and shift workers, local businesses, and community organisations in Toronto

- Recruit and look after a small network of ambassadors, with a personal check-in every week
- Have real conversations with prospects and partners by phone, DM, and in person, and log every one in the tracker the same day
- Reply to every comment and DM on our channels within the same working day

Content

- Plan, film, edit, and publish short-form video and social content every working day
- Turn real user and ambassador stories into content that people actually want to watch
- Write clear, honest copy that sounds like a person, not a brand
- Track what performs and what does not, and adjust

Sales Support

- Generate and qualify leads through outreach, events, and social channels
- Support the sales pipeline: follow-ups, demos, and handovers to the team
- Keep the CRM and lead tracker accurate and up to date

Events and Activations

- Help run small in-person activations, campus stands, and partner events
- Help people set up the product on the spot, and follow up personally with everyone who leaves their details within 24 hours

Insight and Reporting

- Write five short field notes a week: what people actually said, in their own words
- Send a one page monthly memo covering results, learnings, and what did not work
- Take part in the weekly team stand-up and growth review

Safety and Messaging Standards

- Follow the company claim sheet on everything you publish or say. We are a safety brand, so we never over-promise
- Raise any real safety disclosure from a user or community member with the team the same day

Requirements

- Currently studying (M.Sc) or recently graduated in marketing, business, communications, or a related field
- Able to commit to a minimum of 8 months, full-time
- Able to work from our Toronto office every day
- Strong written and spoken English; another language is a plus
- Comfortable creating short-form video on a phone, including filming, editing, and captions
- Confident starting conversations with strangers, and genuinely curious about people
- Organised, reliable, and able to log and follow up without being chased
- Legally eligible to work in Canada

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience running or growing a student society, club, or community group
- A public portfolio of content you have created (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, or similar)
- Prior sales, retail, hospitality, or customer-facing experience
- Familiarity with CRM tools and social scheduling tools
- Experience in an early-stage startup environment

What You Will Gain

- Direct exposure to sales, marketing, and community building in a startup
- Real ownership of campaigns and a visible impact on growth numbers
- Regular one-to-one coaching with the Head of Growth
- A portfolio of work you can point to after the internship
