Role Description This full-time, on-site Court Stenographer role is based in Campbellton, NB.
The Court
Stenographer will attend court proceedings and accurately record spoken dialogue, testimony, and procedural statements using stenographic equipment and software. The role includes transcribing official court records, preparing certified transcripts, and ensuring that all documentation adheres to legal standards and timelines. Day-to-day responsibilities also involve organizing and maintaining case files, responding to requests for transcripts,
and collaborating with judges, lawyers, and court staff to clarify information and verify records. The position requires consistent attention to detail, confidentiality, and adherence to court protocols and provincial regulations.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong stenography skills, including proficient use of stenotype machines and related transcription software.
- Candidates should possess transcription and transcribing skills, with the ability to produce accurate, timely written records from spoken proceedings.
- Strong command of written and spoken English and french, with excellent grammar and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and work with a high degree of accuracy under time constraints.
- Comfort working in a courtroom workplace, with the ability to remain focused for extended periods and adapt to changing schedules.
- Relevant post-secondary training in stenography, court reporting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
