Salary Range/ Wage Rate: PG T27 $3,734.48 - $4,413.08 bi-weekly

Our Corporate Services Department is seeking a Data Platform Analyst who will support and maintain enterprise data platforms, database systems, and analytics solutions. You will develop and optimize data pipelines, data models, and reporting solutions; administer and monitor database environments; troubleshoot operational issues; and liaise between client departments, technical staff, and vendors to keep data systems reliable, secure, and aligned to business needs.

You are a pragmatic, service-oriented data professional with strong technical depth across database administration, data engineering, and analytics, who can translate business requirements into well-governed, supportable data solutions and keep critical enterprise data platforms running dependably.

This role:

- Installs and maintains database systems to ensure a high level of data availability; develops database architecture using established standards; maintains and ensures database and coding standards and quality assurance standards and procedures; assists with planning and coordinating data migration between systems; and assists with the development and maintenance of cloud database components.
- Develops and maintains ETL (extract, transform, load) processes and data pipelines for data integration across platforms; designs and develops data models for data warehousing and business analytics; assists with data integration and transformation between data sources; supports data warehouse development and maintenance; and monitors and validates data flows to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Develops, implements and maintains data analytics solutions using enterprise business intelligence tools; works with business stakeholders to gather requirements, translate, and deliver data analytics solutions; creates and optimizes semantic data models, calculated measures, and data transformations for solutions; and provides training and assistance to business users on self-service analytic tools.




- Monitors and evaluates technical performance of corporate data systems; identifies and resolves data abnormalities to avoid system outages; recommends replacement of aging systems and opportunities for optimization; assists with the monitoring and administration of cloud data storage solutions; provides technical support for operational issues; and participates in data backup and recovery planning.
- Serves as a technical resource on various infrastructure and database projects; completes tasks according to project schedules; coordinates with departmental stakeholders to ensure that database standards remain relevant and aligned with business requirements; as required, oversees the work of consultants for compliance with corporate database and applications development standards.
- Researches, evaluates and recommends information technology solutions and best practices related to data engineering, analytics, and data management; evaluates impacts of current technology and practices on existing systems; and prepares and presents related reports as required.
- Maintains documentation for database configurations, data pipelines, reports and procedures.
- Performs related work as required.

To be successful, you have:

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, data engineering, business analytics or related discipline, plus considerable related experience in data analytics, data engineering and database administration; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Considerable knowledge of relational database management systems, including the principles, methods, practices and procedures for database administration, maintenance, design and optimization.
- Considerable knowledge of data engineering methods and procedures, including the tools and practices for extracting, transforming, loading data, automating and optimizing data pipelines for data integration.
- Considerable knowledge of data analytic methods and procedures, including statistical analysis, data visualization and modeling techniques, processes and tools related to the work.
- Considerable knowledge of the characteristics and capabilities of the District’s computing environment.




- Considerable knowledge of problem definition and solution techniques applicable to the work.
- Sound knowledge of the functions of departments served and their requirements as applied to the work.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate various data and information requirements and to prepare data engineering and data analytics solutions to meet the needs of client departments.
- Ability to develop databases including physical and logical data structures, using established standards.
- Ability to evaluate and monitor the performance of databases and related applications to ensure data integrity, security and optimization of database resources, and to provide related technical support.
- Ability to design and implement data transformation logic and pipeline workflows for data integration.
- Ability to create and optimize data models, processes, queries, and calculated measures.
- Ability to serve as a technical resource for enterprise infrastructure and database projects.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of contacts, to communicate effectively, and to provide advice and assistance on matters related to the work.
- Skill in using SQL, common programming languages, and enterprise business intelligence tools.
- Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia.
