The Director, Infrastructure and Cloud Services leads Air Canada's enterprise cloud, infrastructure, and DevOps capabilities. They are responsible for secure, reliable, and cost-effective platforms in Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS), while advancing Air Canada's cloud-first strategy and ambitious Data Center Exit (AC/DC) program.

The Director leads the migration, modernization, or retirement of workloads and foundational services, ensures that the data center exit translates to verified decommissioning and risk reduction, and establishes the operational capabilities necessary for a cloud-first enterprise.

These capabilities include cloud platform and DevOps engineering, vulnerability remediation, resilience, recovery, observability, lifecycle management, Cloud Financial Management (FinOps), and strategic vendor management.

Responsibilities

Define and implement Air Canada's enterprise infrastructure, cloud, and DevOps strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives, cybersecurity requirements, and the Corporation's cloud-first vision.

Lead the modernization and transformation of technology platforms, including the successful delivery of strategic initiatives that enhance agility, resilience, operational efficiency, and scalability.

Ensure the secure, reliable, and cost-effective operation of cloud services, infrastructure, and platforms that support the airline's essential business activities and customer-facing systems.





Provide leadership in enterprise technological resilience, risk management, and service continuity through effective governance, operational monitoring, and continuous improvement practices.

Supervise financial management, investment planning, and partnerships with vendors to maximize business value while maintaining operational excellence and rigorous cost discipline.

Train, develop, and lead high-performing teams in infrastructure, cloud, DevOps, and platform engineering functions, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation.

Collaborate with senior business and technology leaders to establish priorities, resolve complex issues, and enable the successful implementation of Air Canada's technology strategy.

Drive the adoption of modern engineering practices, automation, and service excellence to improve execution speed, operational performance, and customer outcomes.

Establish and maintain governance frameworks, performance indicators, and accountability mechanisms that promote secure, compliant, and sustainable technology operations.

Act as a key technology leader and advisor, influencing enterprise-wide decisions and ensuring that technological capabilities effectively support Air Canada's long‑term strategic objectives.

Qualifications

Technical certification or relevant university degree (or relevant experience)





Eight to ten years of experience in the adoption and operationalization of public cloud. Knowledge of data centers and IT infrastructure, a key asset.

Initiative, critical thinking, analytical approach, business acumen, and decision-making skills.

Ability to foster a sense of urgency and advocate for the customer; results-oriented.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Team spirit and proven leadership aptitude, excellent interpersonal skills, and collaborative attitude.

Leadership of diverse teams of technology experts and partner vendors.

Experience working with subcontractors or partner vendors, a requirement.

Knowledge of the air transport industry and experience in the transportation or logistics sector, assets.
