About This Opportunity The Director, People & Culture Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for Canada Packers’ People & Culture operations across manufacturing, agricultural, and corporate environments. The role is accountable for ensuring the effective delivery of people programs, employee and labour relations support, workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and People & Culture operational execution across multiple business areas and locations.

Reporting to the SVP, People & Culture, the Director, People & Culture Operations leads a team of People & Culture leaders responsible for providing site-based and functional People & Culture support. The role partners closely with business leaders to align People strategies with operational priorities, develop leadership capability, drive consistency in People & Culture practices, and enhance the overall team member experience.

The Director, People & Culture Operations plays a key role in strengthening People & Culture service delivery, improving operational effectiveness, supporting organizational change, and ensuring consistent application of company programs, policies, and practices across the organization.

Responsibilities

People & Culture Operations Leadership

- Lead People & Culture operations across manufacturing, agricultural, and corporate functions.
- Establish priorities and ensure consistent execution of People & Culture programs, practices, and policies across all supported locations.
- Provide leadership and direction on workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, employee relations, labour relations, talent management, and people strategy execution.
- Partner with senior business leaders to align People strategies with business objectives and operational requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement in People & Culture processes, service delivery, governance, and operational effectiveness.

Leadership of Field People & Culture Teams

- Lead a team of People & Culture leaders responsible for site and business-unit People & Culture support.
- Provide coaching, development, guidance, and performance leadership to direct reports.
- Build leadership capability within the People & Culture function and strengthen succession planning for key roles.




- Foster collaboration and consistency across sites and business units while balancing local business needs.
- Directly lead the Senior People & Culture Manager, Brandon; People & Culture Manager, Lethbridge; and People & Culture Manager, Hog Production. The role may also oversee a Corporate People & Culture Manager if that future-state role is established.

Employee and Labour Relations

- Provide enterprise leadership for employee and labour relations strategies across Canada Packers’ operations.
- Lead or play a principal role in collective bargaining strategy, preparation, negotiations, and ratification processes across unionized locations.
- Partner with operational leaders and legal counsel to develop bargaining objectives, assess business impacts, evaluate proposals, and support successful collective agreement outcomes.
- Maintain productive relationships with union representatives and labour stakeholders while balancing operational, financial, and workforce considerations.
- Provide strategic guidance on complex grievances, arbitrations, investigations, disciplinary matters, and high-risk employee relations issues.
- Support and develop site People & Culture leaders in the effective administration and interpretation of collective agreements.
- Identify emerging labour and workforce risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies.
- Monitor labour relations trends and recommend approaches that strengthen employee relations, operational effectiveness, and long-term workforce sustainability.

Workforce Planning and Organizational Effectiveness

- Partner with leaders on organizational design, workforce planning, capability development, and talent strategies.
- Support business transformation, restructuring, succession planning, and organizational change initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, role effectiveness, manager capability, and overall organizational performance.

Operational Excellence and Service Delivery

- Drive accountability, ownership, and consistency across key People & Culture processes.
- Lead initiatives focused on simplification, standardization, automation, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor service effectiveness and identify opportunities to improve the team member and leader experience.
- Establish clear governance, role clarity, and process accountability across People & Culture operations.

Stakeholder Partnership

- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on people-related matters.
- Collaborate with centres of expertise including Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, Talent & Learning, People & Culture Services,



and broader People & Culture teams.
- Build effective working relationships with business leaders, union representatives, external partners, legal counsel, and other stakeholders as required.

Skills & Experience

Education

- University degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
- CHRL, CHRE, CPHR, or a comparable professional designation is considered an asset.

Experience

- 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Significant experience leading People & Culture teams in manufacturing, operations, agricultural, unionized, or multi-site environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading or playing a senior role in collective bargaining negotiations and labour relations strategy.
- Experience managing complex grievance, arbitration, and employee relations matters.
- Experience partnering with senior leadership teams on workforce and organizational challenges.
- Proven success leading organizational change and business transformation initiatives.

- Excellent business partnership and stakeholder management skills.
- Solid organizational effectiveness and workforce planning expertise.
- Ability to influence and drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.

- Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution.
- Health & Safety knowledge or experience is considered an asset.
