The Dishwasher is responsible for running the dishwashing pit at the Hastings kitchen. This position is responsible for cleaning the dishes and cookware and supervising the volunteers assigned to assist in the dishwashing pit. This position is also responsible for assisting with Shipping & Receiving duties and performing some Custodial duties.

This is a temporary, casual contract. The starting range for this position is $19.60 to $21.42 per hour.4

Main Duties & Responsibilities

- Run dishwasher pit.
- Ensure proper maintenance and cleaning of the dishwasher in accordance with the standards set by the Kitchen Manager.
- Keep dish area clean and sanitized at all times.
- Let Kitchen Manager know about any problems with machinery.




- Take temperatures of fridges and walk-ins and freezers twice daily. Report any problems to Kitchen Manager.
- Clean carts and wagons regularly.
- Empty all garbage containers throughout the day and ensure all are done at the end of the shift.
- Wash kitchen towels/rags as required throughout the day.
- Make sure dining room area is set up appropriately for each meal service: fill napkin dispensers, salt and peppers, etc., as specified by Kitchen Manager.
- Make sure that all closing duties are done as directed by Kitchen Manager.
- Assist with Shipping & Receiving and proper rotation of all products.
- Adhere to all UGM published policies, practices and procedures, including Occupational Health and Safety.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Relevant training and experience is an asset.
- Supervisory experience is an asset.
- Able to stand 100% of the time to perform all duties.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Good English skills (verbal, reading and writing) required.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Ability to remain professional at all times while interacting with volunteers, residents, other staff and guests.
