Education Assistant – Land Based

This competition is open only to PAGC First Nation Members and permanent employees of the Prince Albert Grand Council. The Prince Albert Grand Council is accepting applications for the position of Education Assistant for the Yuasni Tipi Family Treatment Centre.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Director of Yuasni, the Education Assistant is responsible for teaching individualized education and learning programs to children and youth.

The Education

Assistant is responsible for the academic supervision of Yuasni Tipi children and youth attendees; will provide academic support, classroom guidance, supervise online learning activities, and assist in Land Based educational activities; land based instructional activities and engage students in meaningful Land Based learning experiences in the afternoons.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Providing a safe and caring setting to participants
- Assist participants with their individual learning plans and instructional activities




- As a team member plan outdoor activities and follow proper procedures according to Yuasni protocols and guidelines.
- Plan, implement and guide children throughout the day with reading, writing, math, stories, art, and music

Skills and Qualifications

- Grade 12 and Education/Teaching Assistant Certificate
- Knowledge of Aboriginal culture is an asset.
- Knowledge in the Addiction field and mental health is considered an asset
- Two (2) years of continuous sobriety is required.
- An understanding of youth development, and the creative ability to foster positive youth development, is desirable.
- Certificate in St. John’s First Aid/CPR is a requirement.
- Must undergo a Federal Criminal Record Search, the results of which may influence the decision to employ.
- Valid Drivers License.
