What You’ll Do The General Accountant is responsible for day-to-day financial activities including recording journal entries, preparing bank reconciliations, analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts, supporting audits and the preparation of financial statements. Reporting to the Finance & Accounting Director, your core responsibilities will be to:

- Maintain general ledger and ensure completeness and accuracy of accounting records by preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and investigating discrepancies.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and supports month-end close activities.
- Prepare year-end audit schedules, and assists external auditors as required.
- Review inputs into general ledger to ensure proper coding, identify sources of errors and take actions for improvement.
- Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements and various analysis.
- Participate in corporate and finance projects in support of organizational goals.
- Participate in digital transformation projects.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information and follow internal accounting controls.
- Continual refinement of processes to ensure efficiency.
- Perform other duties within competence, as assigned.

What You Bring This is the unique blend of skills and experience we would love to see in an ideal candidate:

- University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline,



or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience.
- CPA designation or pursuing a CPA designation is considered an asset
- A minimum of three years’ experience in accounting.
- Knowledge of audit schedule and audit working paper preparation.
- Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite applications, mainly Excel.
- Comfort using AI-enabled productivity tools to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving skills, technical and attention to detail.
- Strong ability to work independently, and as part of a team.
- Superior time management and organizational skills to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Good communication skills and a demonstrated ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting operations in the insurance business and knowledge of Applied EPIC are considered an asset.
- The ability to communicate in French is considered an asset.

Salary Range

This position offers a market-competitive salary within a range from $66,360 to $91,217 along with rewarding bonuses that recognize your dedication.
