Job Type: Permanent, seasonal (February-December) 24 hrs per week.

Start Date: March 1, 2027

Compensation: Hourly wage commensurate with experience, plus a productivity based season-completion bonus after the first full season.

About the Role Button Brook Farm is seeking a reliable, organized, and engaged Grower to support our bed preparation, planting and crop management. This is a hands-on leadership role in which the Grower occasionally oversees and trains junior staff while working alongside them in the same tasks, as well as works independently in the field. The Grower will also assist as needed with harvest and packing.

The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in producing high-quality food, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced agricultural environment.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and carry out bed preparation and soil amendment, direct seeding, tray seeding and transplanting according to a crop plan, irrigation, and weed control.

Follow established food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures.

Monitor crop grow and quality, and identify nutrient deficiency, and/or pest or disease presence.

Maintain clean and organized work areas.

Safely operate and maintain equipment.

Maintain records related to field and crop management. Work collaboratively with other farm staff and contribute to a positive, respectful workplace. Assist with harvest and post-harvest handling as needed.

Essential Qualifications

Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, bending, lifting, carrying, and working outdoors for extended periods.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing clean, high-quality food.

Ability to follow food safety, sanitation, and task procedures consistently.

Reliable, punctual,



and able to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team.

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable working in a variety of weather conditions.

Good communication and organizational skills. Comfortable training and directing others in the relevant areas.

Desired Experience

Interest in local food security and knowledge of organic or sustainable growing practices. Experience working on a farm, market garden, greenhouse, nursery, or similar fast-paced production environment.

Previous experience harvesting, washing, packing, or handling fresh produce. Experience following food safety or produce-handling protocols.

Experience working with hand tools and basic farm equipment. Experience training, supervising, or coordinating other seasonal farm workers.

Desired Qualifications First Aid/CPR certification. Valid driver's licence and/or experience operating farm vehicles or equipment. Food Handler or other relevant food-safety certification.
