House of Commons of Canada / Chambre des communes du Canada

Ottawa

The House of Commons Administration delivers outstanding services to Members of Parliament and their employees in support of parliamentary democracy. Our success is made possible by our talented and dedicated workforce. We leverage diversity in all its forms and recognize that everyone has valuable contributions to make and the potential for individual growth.

If you dream of joining an organization that is small enough for you to be noticed, but big enough to provide you with a meaningful career, then we want to hear from you!

The House of Commons is looking to staff the House of Commons Page position for a one-year term during the 2027-2028 academic year.

Each year, 40 students are selected from across Canada to participate in the page program. Pages are first-year students registered at one of the eligible post-secondary institutions in the National Capital Region.

As a page, you will work on a part time basis in the House of Commons Chamber under the direction of a group of supervisors and a coordinator. You will work in a fast-paced environment where you will showcase your strong time management, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as a sense of team spirit. Professional, impartial and efficient service is a hallmark of the House of Commons Page Program.

In this role, you will support parliamentary proceedings by providing various services to Members of Parliament, the Speaker and other chair occupants, and Table Officers. For example, you will collect and distribute official documents, deliver messages to Members, serve as a link between Members and their Parliament Hill offices, respond to requests from Members and staff, and answer telephone calls. On occasion, you will also meet with youth groups to speak about your duties as a page and your experience working on the Hill.

A general knowledge of the Canadian parliamentary system can be beneficial but is not mandatory.

The page program values your academic success and your work–life balance. Note that not all post-secondary programs of study have a course schedule that aligns with the work schedule of a page. We encourage you to consult our FAQ section to learn more.

Provincial and territorial representation will be considered during the recruitment and selection process.

Top Reasons to Join the Page Program The page program will give you an incredible work experience to support your academic and career goals. You will have a direct access to the rich traditions of the Canadian parliamentary system and the opportunity to connect with students from across the country and create lasting friendships.
