Position Overview

Join Blue Grass as either a Journeyman Mechanic or a fourth-year apprentice. This role is vital in maintaining our fleet of landscaping and farm machinery, ensuring smooth operations that support our mission of providing top-tier landscaping services and products. This role involves hands-on mechanical work, supervisory responsibilities, and ensuring a safe, organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Repair, overhaul, and maintain a fleet including dump trucks, loaders, highway tractors, track hoes, skid-steers, and trailers.
- Work on equipment such as super-b’s, low-boys, tandems, tri-axles, loaders, Teledynes, and forklifts.
- Oversee daily shop operations,



including supervising apprentices, ordering parts, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment and following safety standards.
- Report directly to the Operations Manager and Senior Management.
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance are timely and cost-efficient.
- Foster effective communication and teamwork within the shop and with other departments.
- Be prepared to work on-site or off-site as needed.

Qualifications

- Certification: Journeyman certificate or 4th-year apprentice in Heavy Duty or Agricultural Mechanics.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of full-time experience as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic or shop manager.
- Additional Certification: CVIP certification is required; a Class 1 license with an air certificate is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics and electrical systems.
- Proven experience supervising and training staff.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Speak and understand English fluently
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
