The Carrier Sekani Family Services Safe House program provides emergency sheltering and education, advocacy, referrals and healing services in a culturally immersed manner to women and children fleeing family violence. The safe house is centrally located in Burns Lake and is available to women and their children affected by family violence throughout BC.

The Janitor of the Safe House is responsible for the provision of cleaning services to Safe House and grounds to ensure a clean, aesthetic and comfortable environment.

What You’ll Do The Safe House Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized residential environment by cleaning and sanitizing living spaces, common areas, bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry facilities. Duties include cleaning surfaces, appliances, floors, and high-touch areas, disposing of garbage and recyclables, restocking supplies, organizing storage spaces, and assisting with inventory management. The role also supports outdoor maintenance, reports repair needs to the supervisor, assists with moving light furniture and supplies, and may occasionally help with grocery shopping, food handling, and meal preparation.

Other related duties may be assigned as required.

- Minimum grade 10 education
- One (1) year experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair
- WHIMIS
- Minimum First Aid Level 1

What We Offer

This role pays between $24.084 and $28.767 per hour, with most candidates starting between the minimum and midpoint. Where you land in the range will depend on your experience, skills, and overall fit, along with considerations like market conditions and internal equity.
