Job Title: Maintenance Manager

Location: G3 Thunder Bay

Reporting to the General Manager, the Maintenance Manager plans, organizes, leads, and oversees the material, human, and financial resources of the electrical and mechanical maintenance departments in an industrial environment. The role ensures compliance with G3 policies, practices, budgets, and deadlines and is responsible for managing capital investment projects. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication and leadership skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Aligns the maintenance program with current operational priorities to minimize downtime.
- Prepares annual maintenance budgets and capital expenditure (CapEx) project requirements.
- Ensures work is performed safely and that hazards are anticipated and effectively managed.
- Develops and implements an effective preventive maintenance program.
- Ensures the availability of critical spare parts.
- Builds team cohesion through constructive coaching that fosters engagement and accountability.
- Allocates resources and plans budgets effectively, with a focus on cost control.
- Implements appropriate corrective actions to address equipment and operational issues.
- Assigns and manages contractors effectively in accordance with G3 policies and procedures.
- Promotes positive working relationships and leads by example.
- Communicates effectively and promotes and adheres to G3 policies, procedures and programs (EHS/QMS) to team members and third parties.




- Supports the development of individual technical skills and effective teamwork.
- Plans, develops, and implements methods and procedures to improve operations, reduce operating costs, and optimize the use of labour resources.
- Ensures equipment complies with government and third-party rules, regulations, and contractual requirements.
- Ensures plans and specifications are kept current and properly scheduled.
- Maintains effective communication with Operations, Maintenance, and other internal departments.
- Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance activity reports to support effective performance monitoring.
- Plans and prioritizes safety inspections and communicates the results to senior management.
- Develops and implements protected work procedures.
- Ensures work orders are completed accurately.
- Manages the annual vacation schedule in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.
- Assesses the training and skills development needs of employees under their supervision.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- A minimum of five years of management experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of project management and human resources management
- Proficiency with standard computer applications
- Red Seal ticket (an asset)
