Education and Early Childhood Development

Reporting to the Director of Evaluation and Research, this position is responsible for overseeing and leading the implementation of; high school certification (high school graduation requirements and status, transcripts); high school provincial examinations; K-9 provincial assessments; the scholarship and awards program; adult education certification through the Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC); school development; and school councils. The incumbent is also responsible for co-managing the provincial student information and certification system (PowerSchool™), providing qualified learning support to the education system; communication with members of the public; and collaborates with other divisions within the Department, other provincial government departments, other ministries of Education across Canada, school districts, and postsecondary institutions on areas related to the division’s mandate.

Screening Criteria

1. Completion of a Master of Education degree (equivalencies will be considered)
2.



Teaching and/or administrative experience at the senior high school level (asset)
3. Supervisory experience
4. Experience within the PowerSchool™ administrative portal

Assessment Criteria

1. Knowledge of the Newfoundland and Labrador K-12 school system, including high school graduation requirements
2. Knowledge of current assessment and evaluation processes in NL
3. Proficiency with PowerSchool™
4. Ability to work independently
5. Ability to think critically
6. Ability to effectively exchange information
7. Ability to manage time and tasks
8. Ability to managing staff
