Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis

Job Summary
The Financial Planning and Analysis Manager(Manager, FP&A;) is responsible for leading organization-wide budgeting,forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
This position overseesthe Senior Accountant, AR and AP specialists, and Accounting Assistant, andsupervises the reporting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functionsfor the department. This position leads the development and reporting on a $51million budget for more than 40 programs with separate budgets prepared andsubmitted annually to two major funders.
The Manager, FP&A; works closely withleadership and program managers to assess financial performance, supportfunding strategies, and ensure compliance with external reporting requirements.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Lead internal financial reporting,including variance analysis, trend analysis, and forecasting.
- Prepare and review external financialreports to ensure compliance with funder requirements.
- Analyze program financial performance andprovide actionable insights and recommendations.
- Translate complex financial informationinto clear, meaningful insights for financial and non-financialstakeholders.
Business Partnering& Strategic Support
- Act as a financial advisor to leadershipand program managers, supporting operational and strategic decisions.
- Provide financial analysis for newinitiatives, program changes, and organizational strategies.
- Support long-term financial planning,sustainability, and financial literacy across the organization.
Leadership &Financial; Operations
- Supervise, mentor, and manage theperformance of the Senior Accountant,
AP Specialist, AR Specialist, andAccounting Assistant.
- Set priorities, monitor deadlines, andensure accurate and timely deliverables.
- Act as Controller in the Controller'sabsence and provide technical guidance to finance staff.
- Oversee financial transactions, generalledger integrity, reconciliations, and monthly financial close processes.
- Investigate financial variances andprovide coverage for core finance functions as required.
Audit, Compliance& Process Improvement
- Support external audits, prepare auditworking papers, and maintain audit-ready documentation.
- Ensure compliance with ASNPO, fundingagreements, regulatory requirements, and CRA reporting obligations.
- Improve financial reporting tools,systems, and processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and automation.
- Support financial system implementationand optimization, including ERP and reporting tools.
- Prepare ad hoc reports and undertake otherduties and projects as required.
Other
- Other duties and projectsas needed includingthe preparation of ad-hoc reports
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degreein Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Advancedknowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and Canadianaccounting standards for not-for-profit organizations (ASNPO).
- Advancedfinancial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills, including the abilityto identify variances, assess financial risks, and develop practicalrecommendations.
- Advancedproficiency in Excel and financial systems, such as Dynamics GP or BusinessCentral.
- Demonstratedability to interpret complex financial information and communicate actionableinsights to diverse stakeholders.
- Strongleadership, staff development, and performance management skills.
- Excellentorganizational, time management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills,with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strongcommunication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationshipsand influence decisions across departments.
- Demonstratedcommitment to integrity, confidentiality, professional ethics, and continuousimprovement.
Experience
- At least 5 years of progressiveexperience in a senior accounting or financial analysis role, including aminimum of 3 years of direct staff management experience.
- Experience in amulti-department, multi-funding, high-volume environment.
- Experience in non-profitorganizations is an asset.
Requirement
- Successfulcompletion of the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General CriminalRecord Check.
Job Information
- Salary:$93,579 annually.
- Work Location: 601 Discovery Street.
- Workdays: Monday – Friday.
- WeeklyHours: 40 hours.
