Position Summary

Under the guidance of the Manager of Network Infrastructure, Cyber Security and Telecommunications, the Network Analyst assists in maintaining the Board's core infrastructure to ensure its effective operation across all facilities. This position supports the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the LAN, WAN, wireless networks, and internet systems within the Board's establishments.

RESPONSIBILITIES (but Not Limited To)

- Assists in configuring and maintaining networking equipment as per standards set by the Manager of Network Infrastructure and Telecommunications.
- Assists in replacing malfunctioning equipment promptly to minimize downtime.
- Schedule and perform activities outside of regular business hours to minimize disruption.
- Assists in managing the inventory of replacement parts and consumables, ensuring they are ready for deployment.
- Monitors the Ticket and Network Management systems and responds to service tickets and alarms promptly.
- Assists in diagnosing network issues to support other ICT functions.
- Assist with board PA and telecommunication systems as required.
- Use test and diagnostic equipment to diagnose issues with network cabling and wireless networks.
- Assists with updating technical documentation




- Maintains records such as IP, VLAN, ACL, DNS, DHCP registrations and change logs
- Responsible for leading a team during projects from time to time and be required to manage contractors/co-op students

Systems Supported Include

- L AN and WAN setups within and between Board facilities, respectively.
- Data Centre and LAN equipment in use at both administrative and educational facilities.
- Board Broadband Internet Connections
- Network management tools for overseeing network infrastructure
- Under the Manager's direction, The Network Analyst will learn about specific systems and assist in managing their lifecycle
- Supports the deployment of new or replacement systems, coordinates with contractor and ensures materials are ready when needed
- Assists in the network setup for new school constructions, adhering to the Board's standards and architectural plans
- Installation and removal of network devices in the board Data Centres
- Follow Data Centre and LAN cabling and installation standards
- Implement LAN and WAN infrastructure components according to the "Design & Fitments" standards
- Meet and work with contractors and board staff, ensuring work is performed to board standards
- Other duties as assigned

Education/Qualifications

- Minimum of two (2) years experience working in Information and Communication Technology.
- College diploma in Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills/Additional Experience

- Experience working with a variety of networking technologies, protocols, and architectures.
- Experience with complex IT initiatives.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to exercise considerable independent judgment, tact,



and sensitivity in dealing with internal and external contacts.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize and successfully complete projects with conflicting deadlines and urgency.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

Working Conditions

- Construction site conditions for new facility work or roof work for building-to-building wireless (heat, cold, noise, fumes, and dirt).
- Cable and network closet work (heat, dirt, and restricted movement).
- Equipment handling (lifting, positioning, servicing bulky, heavy or awkward equipment, working on ladders, limited use of power tools, etc.).
- Computer room (cold and noise).
