Job Summary

Perform sheet metal fabrication, installation and repair for building and mechanical systems. Read drawings and specifications to produce, assemble and install metal components to project standards.

Main Duties

- Interpret blueprints, sketches and specifications to determine dimensions and material requirements.
- Measure, mark, cut, bend and shape sheet metal using hand and power tools and fabrication machinery.
- Assemble and fasten components, install ductwork, metal roofing and other sheet metal assemblies on site.
- Perform welding, soldering and sealing of metal joints to ensure structural integrity and air‑tightness.
- Inspect finished work, perform adjustments and repair existing sheet metal installations as needed.
- Follow safety procedures, maintain tools and equipment, and keep accurate records of materials and labor.

Requirements

Completion of an accredited sheet metal apprenticeship program or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Proven experience in sheet metal fabrication and installation in construction or industrial settings.





Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, shop drawings and specifications.

Proficiency with hand tools, power tools and common sheet metal machinery (shears, brakes, rollers).

Physical ability to lift heavy materials, work at heights and in confined spaces, and perform manual tasks for extended periods.

Knowledge of workplace safety practices, including use of personal protective equipment and safe rigging procedures.
