Job Summary

Carry out a variety of tasks to grow, maintain and prepare plants in nursery and greenhouse settings. Support production schedules through planting, pest monitoring, maintenance and packing activities.

Main Duties

- Plant, transplant and pot seedlings, cuttings and container stock according to production schedules.
- Water, fertilize and apply approved treatments to maintain plant health and growth.
- Monitor plants for pests, diseases and nutrient deficiencies and report observations to supervisors.
- Prune, deadhead and perform routine plant maintenance to ensure quality and uniformity.
- Operate and maintain irrigation systems, basic greenhouse equipment and hand tools.
- Sort, grade, pack and prepare plants and materials for storage, sale or shipment, and maintain clean work areas.

Requirements

- Secondary school diploma or equivalent preferred
- On-the-job training or related horticultural experience accepted
- Previous experience in nursery or greenhouse work is an asset, or willingness to learn production practices
- Physical ability to perform manual labour,



including lifting and carrying containers and standing for extended periods
- Availability to work in greenhouse and outdoor environments, including warm, humid or seasonal conditions
- Basic reading, writing and numeracy to follow labels, instructions and work orders
- Basic English or French communication skills
- Ability to follow health and safety procedures and use hand tools and basic equipment safely
