Senior Health & Safety Specialist

Tomlinson is currently seeking a Senior Health & Safety Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will provide senior-level health and safety support across Tomlinson Group operations by evaluating workplace hazards, advising operations teams, leading risk reduction initiatives, and supporting compliance with applicable legislation, company policies, and industry best practices.

The Senior Health & Safety Specialist will play a key role in implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving Tomlinson’s health and safety programs. This includes conducting workplace inspections, leading incident investigations, developing corrective and preventive actions, providing guidance to managers and supervisors, delivering training, supporting regulatory and WSIB matters, and contributing to a strong safety culture across construction, industrial, mining, and other operational environments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead, support, and monitor the implementation of company health and safety programs, procedures, and initiatives.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and audits across Tomlinson Group locations to assess hazards, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead and support investigations related to workplace accidents, injuries, incidents, spills, near misses, and safety complaints.
- Develop, recommend, and follow up on corrective and preventive actions to reduce risk and support continuous improvement.
- Provide practical health and safety advice to managers, supervisors, employees, and project teams regarding legislative requirements, company standards, hazard controls, and secure work practices.
- Support Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development matters, WSIB claims, return-to-work processes, and regulatory inspections as required.
- Develop, deliver, and track health and safety training for employees, supervisors, and operational teams.




- Distribute health and safety communications and ensure employees and leaders are informed of relevant legislative, regulatory, and company requirements.
- Conduct occupational hygiene or hazard assessments as required, including noise assessments and other workplace surveys.
- Attend project meetings and operational meetings to provide health and safety input, identify risks, and support project planning.
- Support COR-related activities, internal audits, documentation reviews, and continuous improvement of health and safety systems.
- Provide coaching and guidance to employees, supervisors, and health and safety team members to strengthen safety awareness and accountability.
- Assist with the selection and purchase of safety equipment as required.
- Maintain current health and safety knowledge through ongoing education, training, and awareness of legislative and industry changes.
- Other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS

- University or college diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and progressive experience.
- 7+ years of progressive health and safety experience, preferably in construction, mining, aggregates, industrial, transportation, or other multi-site operational environments.
- Strong working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable regulations, WSIB requirements, and workplace injury reporting processes.
- Demonstrated experience conducting workplace inspections, audits, hazard assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action follow-up.
- Experience supporting Ministry of Labour matters, WSIB claims, return-to-work processes, and regulatory inspections is preferred.
- Ability to interpret legislation, identify operational risk,



and provide practical recommendations to managers, supervisors, and employees.
- Strong communication, coaching, presentation, and training skills, with the ability to influence and gain buy-in across all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and support multiple locations or business units.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and comfortable maintaining accurate inspection, training, incident, and compliance documentation.
- Valid G class driver’s licence and ability to travel regularly to company locations and active worksites.
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, up to heights of 30m, and lift moderate loads up to 30 lbs.
- Certified JHSC representative is required or must be obtained.
- CRSP, NCSO, or equivalent health and safety designation is considered an asset.
- Internal COR Auditor certification or COR audit experience is considered an asset.
- Bilingualism is considered an asset.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION:The expected compensation range for this position is $85,000 - $110,000 annually. Placement within the range is dependent on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience.TOMLINSON OFFERS:
